Thanks to Steve's acquisition and analysis of the Arma Wildcat, I couldn't resist picking up an example myself. I opted for the FM-2 as I did not have one and it comes with an Atlantic sub hunter scheme which I would like to do. Then seeing that Arma also had a Yak-1 I picked that up also. They do indeed look to be very nicely molded and detailed kits complete with masks and PE. My only disappointment in their kits is the lack of an open canopy option. Also picked up the 1/72 Ki-84 on ebay.

Joe, I think you're goint to like those Arma hobbies kits. With the detail they put in the pits you'd think they would give an open canopy option to show it off.

Got these in today - I bought the decals for Gabreski's Spitfire Mk IX because I had no idea he flew a spit with the Polish squadrons just to learn from them. Too cool - I'll put the spit on the top of the xmas list. For the second set I want to do an H-19 on floats in USCG markings for BKs Floats & Boats 2022 group build.

With the rate of cool stuff coming in to everyone, I'd be surprised if we did not make a dent in the worldwide economic recovery! Here are my latest efforts:
The Lun was a Soviet-era ekranoplan designed to attack enemy ships, launching missiles from the six dorsally mounted launch tubes. Only a single example was ever built. But it did get to sea trials and test fired missiles. It currently is "almost" at its intended museum, stuck on a sand bar or something.
The spider crane is an ingenious Japanese mobile crane dsigned to fit in confined spaces and/or on uneven ground. The "legs" are stabilizers, not walking legs. Maybe one day we will see fully ambulatory versions, like something out of "Ghost in the Shell".

That Caspian Sea monster is on my wish list, at 1/144 it still looks like a big plane. Love the spider crane too.

The Takom Lun almost looks like it was going to be a snap-fit kit. There are large-ish locator lugs and a lot of parts that friction fit. The dorsal and tail cannon barrels are molded in place, but don't look too bad. I am a little sad no Moskit missiles were included. The launch tube hatches would need to be cut apart and modded to be in the open position. No stand is provided either, which is too bad as the outriggers touch the ground before the hull.
The spider crane caught my fancy when I saw a photo of a die cast toy of one. A contractor on one of our projects was going to bring one to a jobsite that had narrow clearances on the side of a hill. I don't know if he did or not, as I had to move on to other projects. .
I have a nice 1/20 MaK female figure in a jumpsuit and holding a clipboard that I plan to accompany the crane to show its small size. I'd better get her a hardhat though!

The box says 510mm, which is around 20". That translates to 240' for the real thing. The fuselage is divided into fore/aft sections, probably to fit in a standard Takom box. It's a big canvas with a one color scheme, so weathering will be the thing to bring it to life.

Hasegawa has always been just a good solid kit, even their early stuff. And typically a fair price.

Yeah, for sure! My personal metric for defining a "large" kit is one that exceeds 18".
Popped into the LHS on Fri hopeing to pick up the Hobby Boss 35th Jackal. They didn't have that in, but they did have the HB 350 HMS Astute.
Looks to be even less in this kit than there was in the Airfix Trafalgar.
When i got home, i ordered the jackal on E-Bay, i just couldn't hold out any longer. Should be here by next weekend.

I can't see Tamiya doing one. These modern British vehicles don't seem as popular as many other subjects, i think many of us are just grateful to have one option in plastic for these kits, and Meng, Takom and now Hobby Boss are producing some nice kits which before were only avaliable in resin from Accurate Armour. Ashibe from getting the variant wrong, it looks like HB have done a good job on the Jackal. And i am really looking forward to the Coyote, hopefully next year.

Nicly done! I'm working on that MIG 27 at the moment. Typical older Hase with raised lines and min detail. But goes together well. The gear doors are a little fiddley.
I sure do love the box art on those old ESCI kits!

Okay I said I was going to take it easy on new kit additions...
Then Sprue Brothers put the Eduard kit of one of my favorite aircraft on one of their lightning special sales for thirty bucks:
Canopy masks and a small fret of PE included with the kit so you're saving over ten bucks there. And the clear parts in this weird wheel shaped sprue, I've seen this on other kits, it seems to be the new thing.
