I don't have a will but I'm going to have to make sure my stash ends up donated as well.

That was one of my special exceptions to my will, my local IPMS club gets my stash.

Not much there but they're pretty nice kits. Some are outstanding.

Steve: Yeap, I really did want the Sally, one Japanese aircraft I didn't have before. Terry was a huge Francophile though so I'm going to try to get one of the French bombers built.

He's still influencing me today, I had no idea what these French bombers were so I looked them up and got a history lesson. Then I had to look up the colours:

Kaki- pretty obvious

Brun Fonce- dark brown

Gris Fonce- dark grey

Gris Bleu Clair- light blue-grey

Chamois- light leather/tan colour

So I learned some French and even found a neat site with audio recordings on how to pronounce the words correctly. I think Terry is up there smiling down on me.

Those look like a ton of fun Gam! You can build that Sally for your own GB.

I think he would be happy knowing that the kits he was not able to get around to building went to his friends and  comrades in the club. 

This is a little depressing but a member of our IPMS club named Terry passed a little before Christmas. His wife donated his stash to our club and we raffled them off to raise a little money last night. So this is what I ended up with.

Terry was a true gentleman and a good friend. He's the only guy I've met whose major interest was French subjects. He will be missed greatly. Hopefully I'll be able to build at least one of these this year in his honour.

Hey PatW, I just ordered the same kit for a friend!  So what does the "Liberty Walk" thing mean?  I'm not a tuner car guy so I haven't the foggiest idea.  Is it a tuner's brand/company?  Like Chip Foose?  The Japanese words below "Liberty Walk" read "Jiyu ni aruku = walk freely).

It has horizontal stabilizers that are half as long as the wings!

Uh-oh, the canopy arrived with a crack in it.

But the windows are not affected thank goodness.  I ran some Tamiya liquid cement over the crack to seal it and hopefully prevent it from returning to haunt me during the build.  That's what the foggy strip is on the otherwise clear canopy.

The kit is typical limited run, meaning expect heavy mold lines, wiggly parts, and marginal fit.  Actually that is not an opinion as I have test fit all the major components, and the fit is LOUSY.    But, it's a really cool subject, and the minimal parts count will help make this a not-so-bad build.

The real CMC Leopard was positively tiny, yet seated four.  Unfortunatly, only two flying prototypes were made back in the 1980s.  Gotta love Amodel for doing these weird but factual aircraft from the footnotes of aviation history.

SB, Accurate made some very nice Yak kits, along with their Sturmoviks. All are definitely worth picking up.

  

 

 

 

 

I have their Sturmovik kit that is on skis, and it looks really nice too.  I'd like to get some Soviet pilots to go with it to make a little vignette/diorama out of it.  Seems like a plane on skis would need some snow to go with it, and might as well add some figures.

I discovered there's a Hobbytown less than an hour away from me so I decided to go check it out the other day and restock on some paints.  These followed me home.

 

i have their twin seat Sturmovik in my stash, and a couple of their Yak-1s. Even though the Acccurate Sturmovik of mine was sent to the salvage yard by my daughters cat, I know how good those kits are.

Picked up a couple of Revell 1/144 U-boats from Hokey.  A type VIIC and a VIIC/41, along with a set of the A/M metal turned scopes for my 1/72 Gato. Those scopes are beginning to be made of unobtanium. 

He was kind enough to toss in a set of Griffen PE that was in the VIIC box.  A fresh nightmare awaits....

Some days, the postman really brightens my day. I came across this oldie but goodie on eBay last week, for a very good price, so I just could not say no.

Now I just need an A1 &A3 and I’ll have all of the full base versions, plus a couple of the upgraded rebuild versions in my modern German big cats collection.

I just picked up Wing Nut Wings 1/32 Sopwith Camel and a set of Montez masks for the Monogram Pro-Modeler AR234 C3/4 that I will be starting on this weekend.

I'm going to try really hard to limit my kit purchases to one a quarter this year, with the intent to get Tamiya's new Messerschmitt Me109 G-6 and F-14A Tomcat and Airfix's Bristol Blenheim 1/48 due for release in December.

Well, since I'm here in the good ol' US of A for a few weeks on business I thought I would make a little visit to Hobby Town to see what was around. Never planned on buying anything..........but hey.........I couldn't help it :)  What got me started was some Tamiya Panel Line Accent bottles (not easy to get in UK) and it sort of snowballed from there.

Figure that it will give me something to do in the evenings in my hotel room other than going bar hopping.......

Anyways, ended up with cheap cutters and knives, few paint brushes, glue, some paint and some spay.....all of which I have a home.......but a little extra never hurt anyone.......right?!?!

Lol about the smell. 

That kit has some nice pieces. Look at all the headlight hardware. Even a seperate hood ornament. That is nice. That is pretty good for an older kit. I remember some kits from that era with body color headlights, all molded in place.

The original issue from 1965 - 66 ( it's as old as I am. )

EDIT: This is NOT the "Original Issue", This is the Second Issue ( new box art ) from 1969. The first issue had a White drag version on the box top.    But this "IS" the one from my youth. It has been re-issued recently, but now has "Different " part's in it.

Sorry for the "Mis-information ..... I must have inhaled too much of that "Old Kit Smell" .

Does anybody else "Remember" when you could get an AMT fire truck... for $10 ?

The decal's "might" be usable, but I'm going a different route. ( there over 50 year's old so I will scan them and put them away)

This is "THE" kit that started it all for me. When I built it in 1971 - 72  I messed it up royaly !!!   ( what do you expect from a 6 year old. ) This time I "WILL" do it justice !

Despiote having a long queue of 251's, this one will be juping to the front. I have only done C's and D's and have not done a standard /1 section vehicle yet, so this seems a good reason to fill both those gaps.
