currently have 6 kits, only one complete, I don't buy that many cause at a steady pace it takes at least 1 yr. to complete 1 model.

I'm being honest when I say I have a three or four over five hundred. I find myself buying more than I do building. I have a deal with my wife, when she buys new shoes or dresses I get to buy a kit of equal number or value. Love those Pay Less Shoes sales.

Steve, that's an awesome deal!! I'll have to remember that. The only problem, I probably buy more stuff than my wife does.

I found some one on Internet with more than 2000 kits in his garage. He stated that there is a very fine line between the hobby and mental illness

Happy modeling

You guys make me look sane (but my wife would disagree). I have 3 on the bench in progress and one waiting in the wings. To be honest if I had my way I would have 50 to 60 waiting for me to build. My wife's favorite word is NO. And after 20 years I have learned to keep the peace and wait my turn, I'll get them in time.

Since getting back in to building, I have looked through those that I had stored over the years and the many I have recently acquired and would give a conservative estimate of a 1000 kits of different type and scale. Had a few cars on the bench before I was deployed to get started and put everything back away until I got back. Now it is time to get things rolling again and get my room finished so I may get some kind of average going. Will enjoy though...

It looks like I fall somewhere in the middle with around 250 kits waiting in the wings. They run the gamut--figures, sci-fi, cars, ships, aircraft, miscellaneous oddities--armor is the only thing I doesn't particularly interest me.

As for completion rate, I'd say I average about 10-12 a year. It's the scratchbuild/kitbash projects that take most of the time. I'm trying to keep the buying below the completion rate but it's been hard to do.

Oh yea there is a very very fine line between a hobby and mental illness!Clown [:o)]
I've got about 800 to1000 plastic kits, about 600 1;48-1;32 Aircaft along with a mix of Cars Sci-Fi and miscellaneous other. All neatly arranged on shelves in my basement.
There are also about 200 90mm-1:4 scale White metal and Resin figures stashed away. I really quit keeping an exact kit count quite some time ago.
I hardly have time to sit at my work bench and build anything of my own these days, but I always have a want list Tongue [:P] and I keep adding kits to the stash!
This is kinda like an addiction!Approve [^]
But then I look at the bright side, it probably won't kill me(unless a shelving unit falls on meBig Smile [:D]) and I won't run out of kits to build anytime soon.Approve [^]

Five in the closet:

1/24 Airfix Bf-109E - a present
1/32 Revell Fw-190 F8
1/32 Revell Germany A6M5
1/72 HobbyCraft CF-100 - first one I gave to a friend who flew them operationally
1/72 HobbyCraft Sabre Mk 6 - I found decals for 421 "Red Indian" Squadron, 2 Wing, Gostenquin, France - my uncle Guy was killed flying this with this squadron in France when he flamed out at 300 feet. Info regarding the crash can be found at this site:

In photo 2, my Aunt Barbara is being steadied at the elbow by an officer on the left. My cousin, David Clouthier, was the unborn child referred to in the article.

On the bench is:

1/32 Revell F-4E Phantom - just started it on Wednesday - I got it for my birthday almost 2 yrs ago...Peter and Kathy keep asking me to see it completed...it'll shock the pants off them when I finally get it finished

I have appx. 80-90 unbuilt kits, and at least a dozen or so projects underway on my bench. In fact, I really need to organize things, I'm forgetting which parts I painted go to what kit. I'm lucky to get 2-3 kits done a year. Guess I'll have a great retirement if I will ever be able to afford to retire.
