Gregg writes: “‘Ambush at Dray Sap’ depicts a trapped 1st Cavalry platoon fighting for its life against a sudden ambush in Vietnam's central highlands.” Gregg converted 1/35 scale Dragon figures and painted with artist’s oils and acrylics. He used chalk pastels and real mud for weathering and picked out individual pieces of gravel for the stony riverbed — part of why the project took him two years.
