Inspiring and soul-crushing work, all at the same time!  I am in awe at how you make the simple stuff look good.  And while this work spurs me to play with scratch-building more, I'll probably never reach your level of creativity.

So all that fitting around the windows HAD to require some sanding and cutting.  Just how did you keep all the filings out of the cockpit?  Or did Fritzi go in with a vacuum cleaner and dust things off when you were done?

Chuck

Have been "off planet" for the last few; So to come back to catch up with you and Fritzi. It is a pleasure to behold, whot you have done.

Congratulations on the eye surgery

...............................................................   can you see me now?-never mind

Good to see the details like the canopy,  prop weights and alignment and the pilot's air vent control* were handled so competently.

  * wonder if his going to make it operational? ---oh well just have to wait and see-----------

lookin fwd to your next lesson update

Thanks for the shot of your smash-molding setup, Chuck!  I have to make a canopy for my Airfix Fiat G. 50, and I'm thinking of trying that technique.  It helps to see the picture.

Chuck...where did you get those beading tools? I have looked all over for some and can't find them.

I believe if you look back a ways in the thread I posted a link to a jewelers supply place that had a set for a reasonable price.  If it has disappeared, I will try and find it again.  I do watch repair for a living and deal with those tools all the time.

Hey- they rearranged the furniture again!   Where the heck IS everything?  ;)

Thanks, guys!  Baron- smash-molding is a great and easy way to form clear or opaque parts.  In 5 minutes or so I made three perfectly usable copies of that bomb-aiming window- and all from "scrap" plastic, to boot!

Run, don't walk to UMM-USA for those beading tools- on sale now for twenty bucks!

http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/index.php?manufacturers_id=53

No association on my part, mind you.  I found a new set of tools at a local flea market that will blow your mind- pics to come!   I've been tinkering away at the fit on the canopy- it's tricky, to say the least.  I spent more time cleaning the family cars than modeling.   I did get the landing gear done, though- the parts count is getting close to the elusive one!

Cheers!

Chuk, thanks for the pointer on the sale price. I have been looking for a beading set but haven’t found one at a reasonable price. And $32 seemed high. But $20? I’m sold!

And their razor saw miter box is back in stock or should i say new and improved. I’m thrilled to have both of these coming. Can’t wait to try them.

Anyone that has a JLC razor saw, you need one of these: Miter Box

Best regards,

Mike

Flea markets rule!  Most of the time, you'll find someone selling tools, whether large or small, and for really good prices.

Garage sales also--I once found an Ott-Lite for three dollars and it was my workbench light until I found a portable fluorescent desk lamp in the dumpster that still worked and that I liked even better. I still have the Ott-Lite though--it's now my road modeling light for setting up in the motel room. I'll be using it in a couple of weeks as a matter of fact--I'm coming to California for about a week.

Thanks, fellers!

This post marks a real milestone.   Not only is that canopy on at last, but the lead illustration of Hannah was painted at cruising altitude on a cross-country flight!   Read on, brave modeler!

ETC. etc.( boy!  this is a most convoluted method of viewing pictures; hope FSM will readjust the format to a more user friendly method)

Great job of work Chuck.

Nice to see you can travel with Hanna,       [  mumble to self -wonder what Mrs.Chuck thinks of all this gallivanting ]

The new tool "punchs" will be great to use.

I especially like the frame work,  you did on your escape  window

Very interesting bit on the canopy install there Chuck.  I really like how you added the framework around the hatch.

Great job Chuk!

Everytime I see this build with Fritzi, she reminds me of Dr. Elsa Schneider, and the theme music played during the "German-Socialist-Party" scene would play in my head..

Thanks Heavens Eagle for trying to help, but my small rant was directed at the inability to see the pictures directly, by mistakenly believing they were listed as they were, due to the forum change.

Now I know better.

Hercmech thanks for your helping us old computer illiterates, see the work.

Chuck great find on the punch set. OH, and the work to date isn't bad either; especially like the frame work ,simple and effective.

Following with interest. Just ordered my first Planet Models kit.

I love the comic art you use Chuck. Would love to have a chat about it at some point.

The coin you use for size comparisons, Is that the genuine article? or a resin copy? This photo makes it look kinda like resin.

Hey Scorpiomikey, I have a similar coin as chuk does, mine is from 1939 though. If his is the same unit as mine its about the size of a US Quarter.
