Hello All,

Painting the cockpit parts . . .  It's been a while since I've worked in 1/48 scale.  This Hasegawa Huricane has a nicely detailed pit - right out of the box.  I was impressed by the instrument panel.  The raised detail is sharp - great for dry brushing.  Other parts are nice too.

Nice one Doug, which kit are you useing for the Eurofighter.

Sorry, I forgot that info. The MkIb is a 1\48 Hasagawa, and the Euro fighter is a 1\72 Hobby Boss.

Thanks Doug, i'll add that info. I'll be watching the EU especially. I want to add one of those to the stash and am currently thinking about the Hasegawa kit, but keen to look at other options.

I read a bit on the hobby boss, which (this kit) is considered a quick build kit kind of like a 21st century kit. There are a few that are circulating but may be OOP and the ones that caught my attention were the Hasagawa, The ROG (Revell) and the Italeria. I THOUGHT that this Hobby Boss was one of the upper end HB kits but alas, while still decently detailed, its not one of the "upper level" kits. It'll be ok though. I want to also do the WWII Typhoon that this EF Typhoon represents. The Typhoon was my favorite British WWII aircraft... I know it had a load of issues , but at the time, they didn't have the leisure time to "perfect" before use. Still like it...

Ye, i have been reading a few reviews. the hase kit does seem to get the thumbs up, though at a price.

In ragard to that EF Typhoon, i believe that was based on a Hurricane, which would make sense as it was a batle of britain commemoration.

But there was one with Invasion strips in 2014, not sure if that was based on a WW2 aircraft.

After a couple of days i got the canberra all painted up. The grey tail is not normal for this type, from what i can tell it was only on this aircraft with its special markings. I used Xtracolr as usual, so no need for a gloss coat.

The nose did not come out to well. I have had to sand that down and have just re-pained so will leave that until tomorrow.

But for now, i can start on the decals. And there are enough to keep me busy with loads of stencils.

Very clean paint work Bish. Looking forward to seeing the decals go down!

That looks nice, Bish. That nose cone though, yikes. Paint or masking those curves is my most challenging area. You'll nail it though, I know that for sure.

Morning all! I've finally caught up with a few prior commitments, and can FINALLY start my offering here. First... There is some serious stuff going on here, Love it! This is a great topic for a GB and Thank you Bish for making it happen!...My first attempt will be the Hasagawa Mk. IB Typhoon, one of my favorite piston driven aircraft of all time. To me it just looks Viscious sitting still. Any way, I also like Tropical coloring so I found one of the 451st squadron, North Africa circa 1943. Hope I do them proud!

Picked this up at a swap meet recently at a fair price...Couldn't wait to build it.

If my colors are off at this point I apologize... I was looking at color photos from the period for the campaign theater, but they may have been colorized. I know from the books I have that mose ETO examples were a green color.

Just trying the fit here. Usually very little issue with Hasagawas. Thats about all for now... More in a bit...

Thanks BK. I used white tac for ye nose as i did the rest. But after a bit of polishing and a re spray, it looks fine now. Decals are a pain though. Just spent about half an hour and still have not finished the front on one side. This is going to be a long job.

Off to a good star Doug. I notice quite a few kits with that cockpit framing that seems common in Hawker aircraft, looks god. I didn't realise these were used in Africa, i think most people associate them with Normandy. This will make a nice change and will look good in that scheme.

And thanks, our fly boys get enough ribbing, but they are a good bunch really.

About the desert Typhoon,  it was sent there for trials, but never saw actual combat (although it was suppose to eventually).

451 is an Australian squadron, though it was under the umbrella of 219 Group RAF.

I think i must have sparyaed the paint to thick on that piece so it lifted up when i removed the mask. I used the same mask as the rest of the aircraft and applied at the same time, so can only be down to my application.

Well Doug 'ol buddy 'ol pal, I seem to have a Bristol Beaufighter nudging at me. Due to an illness in the house I really need to get a vented booth set up before I do much else, but I'm about to jump in if the Beaufighter fits. I think Bish preapproved it on the feeler?

Nice work Bish - the Canberra's finish looks very nice.

And nice start on the Typhoon Doug.  I think of the Typhoon as the "Muscle Car" of the aircraft world.  It has that rather  bulky-but-go-fast  appearance.

So this is the point of the build where one looks like they are accomplishing a lot more than they really are.  All the interior work was done - and then BOOM ! - I've got an assembled airframe just by clipping, trimming, and gluing a few parts.
