After getting the tractor done I went to work on the airplane. I started with the engines. Some painting and a little drybrushing did the trick.

Then on to the wings. I drilled out the turbo charger on each engine and punched out a small disc of plastic to simulate the waste gate.

After this was completed, I moved on to the fuselage. According to my reference the front part of the fuselage was a bronze green and the back zinc cromate. So that is the way I painted it. I added some O2 bottles again based on my reference.

I would add that I started this at the end of September and did not get photos posted till  now.

Well gentlemen I am going to try once more to show you the start of the B-24. I started work on the tractor drill out the tracks to give it a little bit more realism.

DSC_0323.JPG

I also removed the the round blob off the side and shaped a piece of sprue to resemble a compressed gas bottle. I tried to put the driver on the tractor and his feet would not allow him sit on the seat. I did some research and found out that the body actually had a cut out for the feet. So I eye balled where I thought it should be cut out and did that. When I was happy I painted it and did a little weathering.

Commiserations on the Ikea visit 68. Your Phantom looks good, and I love the SEAC colours on the P-47 too. Cheers Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

I built a Monogram F6F for the Weekend Group, and will include it here also.

The start.

Interior

I added a seat, which meant I needed to build a floor.  The kit doesn't have one.

Aluminum base coat

everything on

Done!

OK, gentlemen I started my B-24D around the last week of September. I have taken photos as I progressed. I have just not taken the time to upload them until today. So here goes nothing. I decided that I would start with the tow tractor that is in the kit. I drilled out the running gear to give the thing a little bit more realism.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/pqpnejeg40a7kuv/DSC_0323.JPG?dl=0

I did a little research and found several photos that I used as a guide for the tractor. I found that the roundish blob on the side of the tractor looked to be some type of compressed gas bottle. So I cut off the blob and took a piece of sprue and rounded it off to make it look more like the real thing. Which I just realized I failed to take any photos of.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/uaomyeoibrdy6fo/DSC_0324.JPG?dl=0

I took the driver that was supplied with the kit and attempted to set him the seat of the tractor as I was assembling it. He would not fit, I thought about just cutting his feet off and saying that was good enough. Fortunately I did a little more research and found that the actual tractor had the area around the operators feet cut out. So I took a wild guess and cut out the area that I thought would be about right. To make a long story short, I got everything looking about right and painted and weathered the tractor.

After testing on some junk models and procrastinating I masked and reshot with a different gray this morning.

I think it looks better.  now back to the P-47 where after letting the Future cure for a real long time I did some Dot Filtering.

I'm probably using more paint than needed.

So the Harrier and F4U are moving along well. I have just picked up modeling again after a 7 year break and these will be kits number 2 and 3 since returning to the hobby for me. I am rusty but am having fun!

Nice finish B-one.

Since I painted several coatsof the metalic blue then when over that with the light blue the paint was way too thick and I was not pleased with it. I stripped the body and repainted with the light blue. I just need to let it dry, do a little wet sanding and apply another coat. This is much better.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

M. Brindos

Well I was going to just build this one OOB but the gunsight was an ugly blob-like box-thing so I got caught up in making improvents. So far I've whittled it down to its basic components and remade the (what I think is...) a head bumper out of thin wire. I'm going to add a lense to the top of the box and the reflector will come later.

So I suppose I'll have to add some more details to the pit walls too. Once I get started... [sigh]

No way man. That P-51 cockpit is great as-is! Oh, ok, the gunsight could use the clear glass!

I'm going to add that last so I don't snap it off by accident lol. Had that issue with the Revell Spitfire and it was a pain to get it back into position once the front glass was installed.

And yeah, that pit detail isn't bad at all. :)
