Eagle, very nice work on the 190.  Not often you see these birds finished in colours that are pre- 74/75/76. Yes

regards,

Jack

Thank you sir.  Had a time with matching times and paints.  I'd find 2 or 3 "variations" of the same bird.  Turned out alright.  :)

Hi Eagle,

That Tamiya FW 190 A looks absolutely brilliant and is a welcome addition to the GB. That paint job is fantastic, and well done to finishing to such a high standard mate. I have one of those in my stash and if it comes out half as good as yours id be chuffed.

Best Regards

Mark

Hello everyone,

Greetings from cold and fresh Worcester, and my current progress on the FW 190-D9 after a week off from it travelling the breadth of the UK doing a thing called work. After looking at some of the pics of the Dora during my research I painted the leather trim around the IP, though dont know if it will be seen like the rest of the office when it is closed up.

I have also closed up the slight gap and mistep between the wing root and fuselage with a bit of white putty. I also attended to the rather prominent gap between the underside wing fitment to the fuselage, again putty smoothed down.

Finally, I sprayed Alclad tyre black on the wheels, previously doing the hubs with Alclad gunmetal. I think ill lightly weather these later with both the treads as well. All of the extra parts are done, landing gear, cockpit canopy, aerial and tail wheel and Ill grap a pick post weathering.

Will give the Dora a scrub down today ready for priming, and for the first time, as Ive never done this before add the spiral decal to the prop spinner. Will post again soon.

Thanks for looking in and I really appreciate the encouragement.

Best Regards

Mark

My 109 has been Futured (thats a verb, right ?) and the decals are on. I found that the rudder tricolour didn't fit at all, so I'm going to have to mask, colour match and spray it.

Cheers

Tony

taxtp. i really like the look. the post lightning of the panels look really cool.

that's a technic I have yet to try but intend to. I have attempted it on my practice model. but i have a hard time seeing the difference then i go to far.

Thanks Bish and Blackdog. Hope this helps, I lighten the paint then thin it right down, so the colour buildup is slow. It makes it easier to control. Cheers Tony

Morning Bish! You know I have to be in on this one... My two favorite Luftwaffe aircraft. You always have good GB ideas... How about to start, a Dragon, 1/48 Fw190 A-8... Not sure who yet, but I'll do a bit of research and get back to ya. Thanks again...Doug

My apologies! I guess I saw your name first and just mistook it... Sorry Rooster... You get the great idea compliment, although Bish always has great GB topics too!  If ok with you, I picked out an Fw 190 A 8 from 11 Jg3 (Black 8 ) Flying Home defense against bombers August 1944. Again its a Dragon kit 1/48 scale. Please pardon the confusion... Thanks and take care...

Hey Doug, Are those Dragon kits ex-Trimaster ? Have you built any before and what was the experience ? I'm just curious. Cheers Tony

Andy... Thank you! I love these two aircraft and have a pretty extensive library of books on both.  The thing I like about these two models is the variety of choices. You can build a "weekend kit" with a hand full of parts, or find versions with a couple hundered parts, and every scale imaginable. Thanks again for such a good topic!

Tony... Yes sir they are... My experiances with them have been mainly favorable. Like other kits there are various degrees of detail, but always much better detailed then your lower end kits like the early Revell and monogram kits. But, like the Monogram Fw190 kit # 85-5949, and kit # 85-5969 (190-D) Pro modeler kits are just reboxed Dragon kits, and are nicely detailed. The only thing I don't like is the lack of riviting. They have basic panel lines but lack rivets if desired. They are however very fine moldings and usually go together well. Dragon armor kits are also good kits. Hope that answers your question, Take care my friends...

Thanks Doug. I didn't know the Promodeller ones were rebadged Dragon kits. Cheers Tony

Yeah, i did one of the Monogram pro modeler Ju87s not long ago, and it had a Dragon sticker still on the part bag. Another thing, on the part sprues if you check around the edges, you might find a dragon trade mark molded onto one of the flats where the part numbers are usually marked. But again, yes most pro modeler offerings are dragon moldings in monogram boxes.

Take care all... Doug
