     First off the construction looks really nice and the pilot looks great too! I've never tried figure painting myself so my hat's off to you!

     As far as the colors, I'd have to agree with Brandon RLM 74/75 over 76. From what I can see in the instructions you would use the smaller aircraft picture (lower left corner) to layout you main camo, this one calls out RLM 74/75 for the topside, and then overspray that with the white. As far as the RLM 76 for underside, I usually use Tamiya Light Blue and lighten it with some white as I think it's too blue. I have been playing around with adding some light gray to the mixture as well as RLM 76 sometimes has a more gray apperance.

I see what you mean, paint the two-tone grey camo pattern then apply the white striping. I looked at the small photo insert at the bottom left corner. Thank you sir

Well I'm rounding the corner on this build. I spent time finishing the masking and dry fitting some pieces of the puzzle. For my first 1:72 scale build, it was a blast even with the parts being smaller then I'm used to. I will be applying the paint today and decals tomorrow.

LOL Bish....please be bruteally honest about the stand. I want to be good at this...so let me have it.

I like it. I have never done one of these force perspective displays, so not my area. The only thing i think needs changing is the colour of the water, i think it should be darker, but maybe Steve or one of the other guys will have some good advice.

Yeah I'd go a little darker on the water otherwise I'd say she's about 10 to 15 thousand feet so the flat sea would be approate. The clouds look great.

Started work on my 109. Of course the pit was up first.

The pilot is going to take a lot of work though.

Quick update for me as well. I've finished up construction and started paint. I tried something new on this one. I saw this technique done on Youtube and wanted to give it a try. It bascially involves doing a panel line wash and some streaking before doing the paint on the bottom side. Here's the wash after a coat of primer to check for seams...

And with the streaking done...

Here it is with the color laid down. It's hard to tell with the pictures but you can see some streaking showing through with the naked eye. It's another way to break up the color and create some variation...

Should be moving on to the topside camo soon!

That's a technique I've not seen before on your 190. I may have to try that out for myself.

Looking good rooster, interesting technique there. I still can't get the hang of pre shading, though after trying MRP, i may give it another go.

Mike - Outstanding start as always...I'm sure the pilot is going to be another masterpiece for you.

Andy - Very cool process, and it looks great. Maybe 20 kits from now I will give it a try.

Steve & Bish - Thank you for the honest input...I have to agree with with you. After reading your suggestion I went back and looked at the pictures, and it didn't look right at all with that blue...a darker blue/black would definitely look better. Thank you both for pointing that at. I need the constructive criticism, it will only benefit me. 

Thanks guys! Bish, I never seem to be able to get preshading to look right either. That's why I'm hoping I can make this kind of technique work. If I try it again I think I'd lay a base layer of the color down, maybe do some marbling and then this panel line wash/streaking. Then go over it with a highly thinned coat of base color. Sounds like a lot of steps but it might be worth it if I can get a more layered/subtle look to the weathering.

Bish, Hunter, thank you. I kept it basic. A little chromatic shading, pin wash, and some dry brushing for some highlights. The pics don't do it justice. I only did some minor weathering on the IP because once the pilot is seated you won't see much past him. I learned that with my P-40 after I weathered the pit and the pilot takes up most of the space.

Ive already begun modifications on the 109 pilot. His head was removed and I added a neck. Now I need to modify his arms a bit for the pose I want to capture. Can't just have him staring trance-like forward. Not very interesting lol.

After weeks kept away from my bench, I was able to get considerable work done on both of my submissions. I got them both painted and decaled. Now, they each just need weathering, flat coat, and some final construction. I've also been considering getting a Luftwaffe fighter pilot and throwing together a little base for the G10, since I don't typically do 1/48th scale stuff. 

I had a little bit of a problem with the Future on the G10- I made the mistake of trying to hand brush it, and after letting it dry it went VERY foggy. Luckily, an airbrushed second coat helped, and I think my gloss coat over the decals will help some more. Lesson learned- I will only ever spray Future.

It's pretty terrible. Nothing fit's, no locator pins, no details, panel lines aren't straight or a consistent depth, and the only decal's that I could use from the decal sheet was what you see here. It's a neat subject, but if I ever want to do another one, It'll be a conversion from basically anything else. 

I had heard their kits were not brilliant, thats what has put me off getting some of their other. Thanks for the info, will save me the bother. Is a neat subject.

Nicely done despite the kit issues. I wish somebody would create a nice 1/48 scale version of this great looking float plane.

That is very odd. I always handbrush Fututre and get a clear glossy finish. The only time Future clouded up on me is when I applied decals and Solvaset a few hours after brushing it. Decal setting solutions will react with Future if applied before it cures, usually after 48 hours or so.

I wonder what caused the reaction with Future?

I have no idea. I used the exact same mixture in the airbrush as I had in the paintbrush. At first I thought it may have had something to do with the one or two drops of Windex I add, but I've used that mix for two years with no problems. The paint had been dry for a week. 

What's extremely strange, I have no problem handbrushing smaller areas, such as cockpits. No problems at all, same mixture. I have no idea why it happened, but I guess I'll stick to what I know hasn't almost ruined a model from here on out.

I ordered (finally) the decals I need for Hans Hahn's bird.  Finished my Christmas shopping too!  LOL!  So should have the 190 finished soon.

I do have a dedicated Future brush. It is stored seperately from al my ther brushes, and has never been used in anything but Future.
