Everytime I step into the Forum for a visit, I seem drawn to this GB. I have way too much going on right now to even think of starting a new project, but I also cannot get my mind off of doing something artistic, yet industrial, and having a blast doing it. I also fell asleep watching Firefly last night.
Please add me to this GB, but I probalby won't know what I'm building until after its done, which is part of the reason for doing it, right?

Yes and yes! It's great to have you along Scott. I obviously don't put down a build on the roster because, well, it can change as you go along and you don't know exactly what it is until you put the last part on, paint the last color and/or last decal and call it done.
Since there's really no end date, just start gluing pieces and hammer something together whenever you're ready. I believe I have two more somethings I want to build at some point.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Oh hey Scott, maybe you can motivate me. I'm still not sure what I want to build.
I've got about five things I'm trying to finish up that should have been done by the end of the year and the Zero, F-51, and Comet tank I started this year. After that I really want to dig into my USN entry to Steve's other GB and something for this one.
While taking a coffee break this morning, I couldn't help to get off my mind of mating the front half of an old Estes SR71 I have somewhere in a box to the water bottle I have sitting on my desk, then putting a sail on it, and covering it with all sorts of tubes, wires, and pipes and using the stack off a locomotive for the tail pipe.
Now I must get back to my real job.
That is going to be cool Scott.
Cliff, l have an easy answer for you, just combine the zero, F51, comet and USN kits together - you have your steampunk entry!

That would work!!!
I may have to jump in on this one, if it's not too late.
You guys have gotten this far, and there are no hot chicks in corsets. How can you do steampunk without a hot chick in a corset?

Hey, thats the reason I joined, so I could research "steampunk" and, well, take time to study the finer, rounder, details of my research subjects.
Ya know I might have some figures around that would fit into the steampunk category. If it's kosher I'll look around Steve.
GameraIf it's kosher I'll look around Steve.
LOL, just about anything is kosher....just about, if ya know what I mean.

Well they are all 'G' or at least 'PG-13' rated. Nothing 'R' if that's what you mean...

Now I have a vision of leather corsets and pickles being added into my design.

Lol, okay maybe I shouldn't use the term 'kosher'...
Sorry, was going to look last night and got busy (aka took a nap after work). Will see what I can find this weekend.

I figured I'd have something in my collection of 32mm gaming figures but so far found nothing.
Baron: Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
I'm thinking a kit-bashed time machine now. Maybe in a diorama with Tamiya dinosaur?

Now that would be cool.
Back to the SB Mo. I sanded, added more filler, repeat, repeat, repeat. Finally thought I had it good enough to paint it black to see where I was and what needed attention.
Not as bad as I thought, just a little more to go. Once this is done I'm just going to attach the other engine nozzel to the lower section, then on to the superstructure.
Steve: That's coming along great!
BTW I'll keep thinking about the time machine concept, hopefully something will strike me.
Thanks Gam, I'm working on what to add to her next.
Hi,
Sorry fot the slow progress. I haven't had a lot of time to work on my armored car build, but I did get a chance to modify the main turret a little yesterday and today. Mostly I just wanted to change the looks a little so that it doesn't look like a normal armored car with a different gun, so I added a bit of balsa around the edges of the turret so that I could radius the top and bottom edges and give it a bit of an overhang above the turret ring. Since I wanted to practice trying a few different things I used brush on Gorilla Super Glue to try and glue the balsa to the plastic of the turret and was surprised at how well it appears to have worked.
Next I hope to seal the balas with some Bondo and continue to shape it a bit. Then I'll add the barrel and mantlet and play around a bit with the back end of the vehicle.
Pat
Hey Pat that looks pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing where you take her.
That's one of the things I'm looking forard in this GB, ideas for new techniques. New materials or processes I hadn't though, which are quite a bit actually.
Nice job on the turret.
I had some time to work on the SBMO. The engine nozzles are complete and now working on the "pods" on the wings and tail. Using drop tanks of course. I'm also thinking of ways to make the gun barrels more futuristic.
Oh cool, she's coming along great!
Are the pipes on the bottom vents or Harrier style VTOL nozzles? In any case they look cool!

I invision them as vents

Ah ok. I was imagining her using them to take off some planet straight up!

That's what the "thrusters" (the balistic missile tubes on the Ohio class sub hull I'm using for the lower enging housing) are for. Maybe not perfectly over the center of gravity but, you know, science fiction. Thrust vectoring of the lower engine, or something.
