The Mongoose . I thin the paint abit more (Vallejo air) then I lower psi to 18, I remove the protective tip on the airbrush and find the spot were you see the paint just hits the model and practice 1st, its like calculus you need to learn the long way before you can use the short.

I got a little more done on my Corsair. Since the blue is so dark I tried a light wash instead of the normal dark. I'm not sure I like it. I might wash it off and go back to a normal dark wash.

Gee it's no big issue Ferg, I hope things are okay there.

And no big thing with the wash either- I can wash it off if I don't like it. Still fussing with it right now.

I'll be interested to see how the wash pans out Cliff. I've seen it done a few times before, sometimes it looks great, particularly if the machine is weathered a bit.

Here's a progress update on my Me 263. THe underside has it's RLM 76 and is masked\. I've just spreayed the first part of the splinter camo, RLM 81 Braunviolett. As the other colour, RLM 82 also has some mottling, I thought I'd do that last.

I really can't get over all the good progress and finish up work that I'm seeing here in this thread. 

Nick: The work you put into the paint and weathering work alone on that Corsair is worthy of things that one sees out of show winners man. Wow!!!

Brandon: You've got some good progress going on with your build as well. 

I've been away for several weeks/ month or so due to my mom passing away on the 23rd of January. She caught Covid in late December and it turned into Covid pneumonia. As it seems like alot of folks do, she didn't think she needed to go to the doctor and argued with my dad over it until he got his gutfull and called 911 to have the medics come to her. They all convinced her that she needed to go in finally and within hours she was put on a ventilator for the next 10 days. It was simply too late though as her kidneys and other organs started shutting down on the 10th day. When dad gave the word to take her off of the ventilator she passed away peacefully 10 minutes later with all of us gathered around her as she passed. We buried her on Thursday in my hometown with more than 200 people present for the funeral.

I  brought my family back to Corpus and went back up to Bowie the next day to spend a week with my dad which turned out to be a very good thing so I haven't been on her in a while. I'll be getting my feet wet around here once again and posting pretty soon fellas.

   Deepest condolences Mustang for the passing of your mom, take all the time you need for your family. We will patiently await your return.

Deepest sympathy to your whole family.  The past couple of years have taken a heavy toll on several of us here, and elsewhere.

Don't worry about how soon you get back to the bench, but it can take your mind off of other things for awhile.

Joe, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. We all know it will happen someday, we are just never ready when it does, no matter the reason. Remember fondly what you had and live life as she would expect you to without her. Enjoy everyday and do what you love and love those close to you while you can.

Sorry I haven't kept up on the project. You are all doing fantastic work. I am very humbled to be able to be included in this group.

The main painting is done with most of the weathering finished. Just finished the chipping and will be sealing everything with gloss to be ready for the decals. Then I'll start putting the wings, landing gear and doors, and other odds and ends on.

My wife was disposing of some stuff from her business now that she has officially retired and I happened to see some things that I can use for the hobby. Among them was a supply of needles for the various sewing machines she used. I had thought of a way to chip the paint in the panel lines but couldn't find the right tool to do what I wanted. The needles did it. After the paint was cured, I ran a needle down the panel lines and the blue paint chipped off. Going a little heavier removed more. Always wanted to chip paint but it never worked to my satisfaction. Now I've "got er done". Let me know how it looks to you all. Planning on getting some work done on it tomorrow.

Thank you all for the very encouraging and supportive comments. Things are getting back to some sort of normalcy like things always do. I've been back at the bench and have some more progress to report on the Mustang. Will be posting that this weekend.

Jim: She's coming along nicely! 

Finally I'm back at the bench gang. I've moved onto the firewall which I had a definite problem with. I have had the floor mats installed into the interior tub for a while now but will need to slip the tub assy up into the body when it gets to the point of installing it. The problem with that is that I would've had to figure out how to get the floor mats on top of the foot boards of the interior as well as to slip the body around the firewall "wings".

I decided to see if I could approach it from another angle by installing the firewall onto the front of the interior tub and slipping the whole thing up inside of the body in the final assembly stages. The problem with that is I would have to stretch the body around the firewall "wings" I was talking about. NOT something I really care to do.

So I merely cut these off. I'll come back to this later when I have the body installed and figure something out for some covering on the outside of the firewall.

and here we are with the engine installed onto the chassis. Gonna run some brake lines from the mastercylinder, a vacuum line from the brake booster to the back of the carburetor baseplate and install the fan and we'll be pretty much done with this part.

Really coming together now mate!

Thanks fellas. Already got my next project up on the bench. I'll be doing this as not only a tribute to the folks we've lost here but also to my mother who loved watching me build these things. I don't think she "got it" as far as to why I/ we build these things but she sure had an appreciation for them.

Hey Gam,  I did something similar with my Hellcat.  Perhaps not accurate but looks pretty cool.  What did you decide?
