The dash looks great! I love the keys in the ignition.

Great job on that pony dash Joe.

Digging the tiny eggbeater Steve, glad the stripes are decals....things mights gotten ugly.

I remember Rigidrider, didn't interact much with him however I do now remember the Wall-E that he built.... Is Wilbur Wright still wirh us? I know he was working hard on a PBY.

Thanks for the comments you guys. Yes

Rigidrider and I were really good friends here and when I found out about his passing I was hit pretty hard by it. We both influenced each other heavily. Heck he even tried building cars but got really flabbergasted because he couldn't pull off a shiny finish. Man he'd get frustrated. lol.

Got my goodies in that I was waiting on. Outside door handles from Fireball Models (They're GM handles but they are going to work out great in place of those solid/molded in door handles) and then the inside door handles that I was waiting on to finish the door panels up with from Pro Tech.

Justin: That is some really fantastic work you have done on the cockpit and engine. Nice call on the harnesses. They look the part for sure. sorry to hear about the flood damage. I hope you are able to regroup and come back strong.

Steve: Really enjoting your work on the Puma. Very nicely done.

Joe: Hot Dang! That dash looks incredible. Your endeavors there certainly paid off. Good to see your parts came in. Those should be a nice touch.

Thanks Joe. I did actually get the door handles installed this morning. I polished them up, since they're metal and installed them. Gives the panels a great 3D look and you can see the reflection of the handles in the door trim which I thought was a good touch.

Oh wow, you're knocking it right outta the park Mustang!!! That's incredible!

Never thought of aftermarket door handles, very cool!

Hmmm, I've been itching to build the 1/48th Tamiya P-38. I might toss it in here for Doug/Rigidrider when I finish the Corsair in the memory of Toshi. I hope he'd approve.

Smoken Mustang! It's going to look so rad when finished.

A little more done to the Puma last night. I was able to attach the doors and the roof and fill the gaps between the roof, doors and front canopy. I'm planning on cleaning up the fuse seams and get the rest of the exterior parts on tonight.

Joe, those door panels are amazing. Well done.

Damn sorry to hear about Doug. That sucks, we go along great. He was always positive and nice. Now this has me wondering who else we have lost that has been absent for awhile. Like BrandonD or Kenda? Where have they gone. There are others. With all that has been going on over the last couple of years you spend a lot of time thinking about all those we've lost.

Joe: Mate the dash is incredible and AM door handles. What next, working wipers???

Justin: Love the office and engine on the Corsair!

JOE RIX: Do you want me to add the He 115 for Doug to the list?

Steve: That Puma is looking sweet. I bet it was fun masking those clear parts!

Gamera: Do you want me to add the Tamiya P38 to the list for Doug?

Keavedog: Thanks for sharing Doug's build of WALL-E. I loved it! That fella was talented, both my wife and laughed at the story of aquiring the bra!! He was not only talented, but much braver than me!!

Dodgy: Yeah, I suppose so. I've gotten a little leery of taking too much on but I'm going to try to get to the P-38 yeah.

Steve: You're making great progress there- as usual nice work!

Hi everyone! The wife and I worked on this blankedy blank computer all mourning to let me be able to post pics of my build for Toshi. I just did 2 tests, and the links came through OK. For some reason we just can't get it to send just the pics. But, I'll settle for the links now.

OK, here we go. The kit is the Tamiya 1/48 Vought F4U-1A Corsair. I thought about a couple of different versions and reached a decision. A while back, I was talking to Toshi and sent him a pic of a build I did of the Panther used in Bill Holdens 1954 movie "The bridges at Toko Ri". He liked the idea of modeling a plane used in a movie as it is easily recognized and he liked mine. So, I decided to make a model of a  plane used in the TV series "Black Sheep", Pappy Boyingtons Corsair. My memory is not as good as it was and neither are my hands and eyes but I am going to give it one heck of a try. I might need a little help once in a while.

I started by spraying the interior and adding a few pieces left over from other kits to help fill the empty spaces.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/ogDgyKSCEhRpq6Dj6

Then came the pit. Got lucky and found a set of USN WWII seat belts in my stash. The inst. panel is the kit decal with lots of liquid settling help.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/jevpoVQ4Li8jyzaj8

Next came the engine. Did a little bit of weathering on the cylinders and added copper wire for oil lines.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/SJyAmHHNJU1t7Nc9A

That's as far as I've gotten. The pit is in the fuselage so I can check for fit. Planning to lock up the fuselage tonight, put the center wing section together and build the landing gear.

All of the builds I've seen here are looking really great. Some really fantastic work.

Nice job everyone. Really excited how to tiger meet decals turn out on that held modelcrazy.

hoping to make a run to the LHS sometime to pick up my contribution to this GB. Could some of the forum members who have been around for a while give me some ideas of what those who have passed away liked to build?

Can't speak to the others, but Toshi was partial to Corsairs and B-17's.  Also to WWII German birds.  Think he also built a couple Japanese a/c too.

Steve: Dude you are a WILD man!!

Jim: Good progress on that Corsair so far. Interior and engine look great!!!

John: These guys all liked aircraft. Corsairs are dominating so far here because these guys were always down for one of those being built. Looking forward to whatever you decide to build.

Rob: Don't tempt me on those wipers.

Jim: Awesome work there on the cockpit and the engine!

I started work on my Corsair but the MiniCraft kit is a wee bit more Spartan than the Tamiya one. Looks like they just made up some of the details. Photos when I have a bit more to show.

John: Yeah, Toshi was a big Corsair fan. The other guys liked WWII aircraft but I'm not sure of any specific type.

Dodgy: Yeah, you can go ahead and and add the He-115. May be some time til I get to it but, might as well put it in the que.

Jim: Really wondeful start to your Corsair. The cockpit looks excellent. Nice work on the engine as well. The ignition wires definitely add to the realism. Well done.

Cliff: Looking forward to some progress pics from your Corsair. I know that you will be making lemonade out of lemons.

Not a whole lot of progress to show but it took some time to get to this point. I got everything attached, except for the antennas, filled the seams, added masking and am ready to applu a prime coat. I'll spray a white primer since there won't be any weathering or fading and since the base coats are white and orange.

After the paint and decals all that need attached are the wheels and side boom antenna

I didn't know all the departed members that well. But I know Toshi loved F4U Corsairs. And Doug/Rigidrider loved WWII aircraft in general a great deal. Others can probably fill in on the other missing members.

Sadly I did not know any of the others either. In fact I only came to know Toshi a short while before he passed and most of our interaction was around a stamp album that I sent to him.

Fox: Love your work on the corsair.

JOE RIX and Gamera: I have updated the list, but remember there is no pressure on this GB. Work on your models when you can.

Steve: The Puma is looking great. Do you have some tiny, smaller than the eye can see, modeling gang working for you?????

I've been working with the steering wheel and column for the last couple of days and have stripped the wheel twice and repainted. Finally came up with something that I think I can live with.
