I pulled the kit out and was looking though it to see what paint I needed and just great- Dragon doesn't give paint names and numbers but only how to mix them with Gunze paint. I have the interior paint I need so I won't need it for a month or two but I'd like to have the exterior colours on hand. I can look it up but figured someone would know the two topside colours off the top of their head?

Gamera, that scheme looks similar to the late war nighfighters, which were RLM 76 with 75 mottling. But given thats a bomber and looking at the pattern, i;m thinking more of 76 over the standard splinter scheme. But thats an unusual one for a bomber.

PJ, look forward to seeing that. I'm going to build the same kit when i do the 32nd A-1, though i am not putting the A-4 into the GB. I do like German aircraft with those Balkan markings.

Thanks Bish, I've been looking around and formatting a plan of attack. Looks like I may end up replacing the kit decals. But at least now I know what paint I should be picking up.

Thanks Bish and Gamera. Yes the kit has a couple of very cool looking schemes. I like the Afrikabraun with Dunkelgrun blotches, of 5./Lehrgeschwader 1, Eleusis, Greece March 1942. The other scheme is the box art with the standard splinter camo that was stationed in Cicilia, Italy.

That Revell 88 is a great looking kit.I compared it with one of the far more pricey Hasegawa kits and it certainly holds its own in regards detail. I also like the way it was made giving plenty of options for other variants. I#m surprised Revell have not done more, but was very glad they released the A-1.

I pulled the Ju-188 out and looked her over. I had painted some of the parts- the wrong colour and had dry-brushed the heck out of them with silver paint. Nothing will have to be taken apart thankfully- just painted over.

Other than the camo and the complex canopy the kit should be pretty straight forward. I think I'm going to order a simple PE set for the seatbelts and the cockpit details though.

The decal sheet looks pretty bad, lots of fractures in the clear areas, I've seen this happen in some old Dragon decals in my spare decal drawer. No big deal, I've found some aftermarket ones from a Czech company. If nothing else I figure some from a Ju-88 ought to fit. There's pretty simple, just the German crosses and letter codes. No swastikas though, so I'd have to replace them in any case.

I got the pit ready for paint. I was really impressed with the molded detail it has. Talk about tiny, I’m used to work with 1/48 and 1/32 but very nicely detailed. The paint will make it pop.

That does look nice PJ. the cockpits in this scale are getting better and better. Bish, I've ordered a Revell 1/72 Junkers F.13, as I couldn't get my paws on a civilian Ju 86. I'll have to cook up some decals on my own to build an Australian civil aircraft. It should be here in a week or so, but I'll partipicate here in the meantime.

Nice work PJ. that pit is well stocked with detail. I compared mine to a hase kit when i got it and could not believe how nice the revell kit is. That pilots seat always looks odd to me with the crocked head rest.

That will make a nice addition tony.

I have been researching the pit color and looks like RLM66 is the correct one. I was hoping to use RLM02 which is lighter and makes details easier to see but the color changeover started in the summer of 41.

Im still researching things in the 3 GBs I'm in so info is slowly surfacing. The armored seats are for G and Hs so I'm still looking for A references before removing any details.

I think its to do with the shape of the canopy.

Bish has got it concerning the JU 88 pilot seat.  The top portion appears asymmetrical to conform with the canopy.

That is a fantastic picture. Thanks to both Bish and Jack for the input on the odd shaped headrest. 

Made a start on the Stuka last weekend, this is the kit, i am doing the subject on the box art, S7+AA.

The instructions say it a D-1, but the photo's clearly show the thicker armoured pilots windscreen of a D-3.

I'm useing an Eduard PE set along with a few other AM parts. The Aires resin pit designed for the Academy kit will fit in this, as i found out when i built a D-5, but as i had the Eduard set anyway, figured i would use it. The PE set is missing some detail thats in the resin one, but i'll use some parts from the spares box to fill it out.

I got the PE parts fitted painted and dry brushed. Also drilled out the hole and fitted a quickboost resin compass.

I also got the wings together, cut out the molded landing light and fitted the guns. There are 2 options for the wing guns in the kit. One with exposed barrel tips for the D-1 and another with extended fairing and covered opening for the D-3. But photo's show that both variants could have either. I am guessing the covered fairings are to stop dirt getting in to the barrels on take off, and the covers do seem to be fited more often to aircraft in dusty enviroments, such as the desert. The photo's of the aircrfat i am doing are not that clear, but it does look more like the covered option so thats what i fitted.

Bish: Nice!!! I built the tankbuster version of the 1/72nd Fujumi kit waaaaaaay back- I think it was the '90s and thought it was a gem of kit. Looks good so far, looking forward to more.

Tony: Looking forward to the F.13 that sounds really cool!

BTW: The PE for the Ju-188 came in Friday and I did a little work over the weekend. Photos when I get enough done to be worth posting!
