1/48 Hasegawa F4U Folded Wing ??

I kit bashed mine with the wing fold piece from a Tamiya -1D kit. There should be a hinged spar that attaches to the upper and lower wings. I would have thought the resin kit had it.

I have a couple of more pieces to attach, the spar being one. But the resin wing is far too heavy to be supported that those pieces alone.

I looked up that resin you're using, and can't quite make it out myself. For what it promises, you shouldn't have to glue the wings together, it definitely won't look right. Wish I was more help.

Close but no cigar...that post was asking for suggestions about cutting into the wings on this model. I did manage to get that part of the job done though. Thanks.

In truth, I really wanted to build this version of the F4U with the wings folded.  Admittedly, this is the first time I dealt with resin kits.  The two resin kits I bought from Wolfpack-D.com have not met my expectations.  The fit in the cockpit is very poor in that I have to add a spacer to fill the gap left above the instrument panel.  Yes, I dry fitted several times.

The detail on the folded wing parts looks great, at least to my eye.  But I have to try to figure out how to attached the resin wing, which has some weight to it, to the rest of the wing section.

I am toying with the idea of using a length of a paperclip to provide the strength needed.

I had the same type of issues with a resin kit to convert a B-52H to a "G". Front fuselage plug was unusable, the rear plug was nearly so; had to fix shape issues, but at least the engines were decent! Your idea to pin it sounds like the right way to go. Corsairs also use a brace between the wings and the fuselage that you can model that should help secure those outer wings better.
