Red USAF markings
Posted by Phantom Fan on Thursday, July 15, 2021 1:04 PM

I'm looking for 1/72 scale red "USAF" & "U.S. AIR FORCE" decals for a project, but can't seem to find any. Does anyone know where I could find such decals? Thanks!

The old airfix B57B/RB57E had red markings. Probably ebay only source, or someone has to set in a file box. Might do a search for SAR decals too.  Or for night fighters.

Edit... Found sheets with red single letters and numbers on ebay for 18" 1/72.   $6-7 bucks.  Google red USAF decals.

I have a Microscale sheet #72-311 "USAF Letters and Numbers 45 degree corners in red".
That be of use to you?

You might also try looking for decals for specific types which wore that color of those markings, and there were not that many. Only a few come to mind:F-82, B-26 Invader, B-57, SR-71, U-2/TR-1, T-38. What's your project aircraft type, because the sizes varied by type?

B-52Ds with the black undersides also had red lettering.

Those had red serial numbers on the tail, but not the USAF & U.S. AIR FORCE in red. The red service markings were usually only on overall black aircraft.
