Yes, I know this topic has been covered ad nauseum, however I has anyone tried those Bright Eyes that you see on TV?

My wife bought me a headband with an LED lamp on it.  I use dollar store cheaters- I have several diopters to use.  Gives me something similar.

Haven't tried those. I do what Don does with the headband optivisor and the cheaters.

I too use the cheaters.  Found a pair with real glass and at +6 they are awesome for the lose in tiny stuff.

Do you recall where you found the 6+ glasses? I have trouble finding anything even nearing 3.

I find if I go beyond 3 I get a headache after just a minute or two.  Readers do not have convergence ground in and at the distance appropriate for 6 diopters your eyes are really trying to converge to an almost cross-eyed angle (unless you need maybe three diopters for normal reading- then the extra three brings you back to normal).

For anything that close, I have one of those positional ring light magnifiers- the lens is about six inches in diameter.  If both eyes look through the same lens, that automatically supplies some convergence. If I put on my +3 readers and look through the magnifier, my finger tips look gigantic and problem becomes dexterity- I can really see the shake of the tweezers!

Yes, I can't spend too much time with them:)  I have to take them off before moving off the chair.

John

Thanks for the link. After reading some of the comments I might be tempted to try the 4.5 ones they have. It would be a significant improvement over the 2.75 ones I got at Walmart and maybe I can avoid some of the problems others have noted.

Don:

I don't need magnification to see the tweezers shake!
