I have a regular one from Hobby Lobby, but I think I with to try a lighted one. There are dozens on the internet and Amazon, with all the reviews it's crazy.

I have had my optivosor for years and found a cheapish clip on light with a clip on 2 AA battery pack.  It's not bad but the bartery pack keeps falling off.

Thanks,

Re John's link above, I have one too, the original version on the left, not the newer zenon one. Same as John, it's works, but the battery falls off regularly. I ended up duct taping mine on and it was still a pain. Battery life is short, cord management is awkward, etc. I ended up installing a ten-gazillion lumen worklight overhead and ditched the optivisor light finding it more trouble than help.

Sorry, this doesn't help what to buy, but one to avoid. I recall reading positive comments here about some other makes with good lights, hopefully folks will chime in soon.

Donegan (the company that developed the original optiVISOR) makes a clip-on light for their like the ones others have described.  Here's their catalog page for it:

https://doneganoptical.com/product/visorlight/

I would have sworn they made a version with the lights built in, but I can't find it now at their website.  I may be thinking of knock-offs of the OptiVISOR.

I have a cheap Red Chinese knock-off visor that I got at a show years ago.  It really helped, but I decided after I started using it, that I wanted additional light, aimed along my line of sight.  I figured that when I wore my old one out, I'd upgrade to a model with built-in lights.

In the meantime, I bought this style of magnifier, which seems to be gaining in popularity these days:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32921448580.html

It does put good, focused light right where I need it, but I found that the weight of the battery pack is irritating on the bridge of my nose.  Also, despite having 6 different lenses in increasing magnification, none of them provide the same magnification as the loupe on my visor.  So I don't use this one; I just can't get used to it.

I don't think the clip-on light for OptiVISORs would cause the same problem, since the weight is on the visor and distributed via the strap around your head.

Hi;

 I found one at Harbor Freight. The lights are built in and focused to the centerline area. The thing has four clip on visor like Glasses? and is rechargeable. Very light-weight for what it is and very stable for what it is.

Second the Harbor Freight version...last price I saw was 5.95, decent magnification with the flip-down lenses and fairly light and comfortable to wear.

Used it quite happily for years until I switched to regular 2.5X readers from the drugstore. Much more comfortable...without the goggle-type 'tunnel vision'...and my pre-existing work table lamp provides better lighting than the little battery pack lights ever could.

Just my 2 cents.

red chinese? really?

Yes.  it's a pirate or unlicensed copy of the product developed by Donegan Optical, and it's produced in the People's Republic of China.  Therefore, Red Chinese copy.
