Tamiya AS Color Spray to Color Acrylic Conversion Chart

Let me know how it works out. I'm working on my F4U right now as well, but haven't made it to spraying the exterior. Hopefully more people will give their color combinations they have used so we can fill up this list.

I am not sure how to place those into AS structure however here what I used (based on Tamiya recomendations)

DARK GREEN (RAF)   XF-58:1 + XF-62 :5

OCEAN GREY (RAF)  XF-18:1 + XF-21 :2 + XF-24:2

MEDIUM SEA GREY (RAF)  XF-19 :3 + XF-54 : 5

DARK EARTH (RAF)  XF-52 :1 +XF-64 :1

I placed your recommendations into the chart. Please take a look to see if this is correct. Since it's been a while since anyone has posted, I'm hoping with this bump that people might have some more to add. Thanks everyone for the continued help.

It's been a while since this thread has been bumped. Please add to the color list if you've come across any of the colors not yet filled in.

Just to get this right:

Example:)  DARK GREEN (RAF) XF-58:1 + XF-62 :5

That means XF-58 and XF-62 mixed 1 to 5?  ..So 1 drop of XF-58 to every 5 drops of XF-62?  (etc...)

This Chart would be handy to me...I was dissapointed to learn Tamiya doesn't make certain colors just in bottle paints.  Makes me wonder if they EVER will.  Seems kinda silly to me.

Yes that is correct. The numbers after the colon are the parts per color. And I really wish Tamiya would step up and make this because I will never use colors out of a can. Well, maybe never. So if that is the case I really hope more people can add to this list. I wonder if there just aren't that many people mixing these colors and just don't know. I'm sure there is a paint expert in these forums that would like to contribute.

I just updated the list with:

AS6 Olive Drab = XF-62

AS7 Neutral Gray = XF-53

This is right from a Tamiya instruction sheet. The list is growing, but far from done.

Well there are some paints ready to go straight from the jar:

Feild Grey/Feldgrau = XF-65

German Grey/Deutsches Grau = XF-63

RLM Grey/RLM-Grau = XF-22

Deep Green/Sattes Grun = XF-26 (IJA)

Just used this post for my F4U-1 colors. 

This thread is obviously a bit old, but a Tamiya Zero Kit indicates:

AS-1  -> XF-11

AS-2  -> XF-12

AS-29 -> XF-29

I know this is an old thread, but this information could be VERY useful to DeAgostini Millennium Falcon modelers having trouble finding the AS-20 Insignia White rattle cans.

Or any white will do. They're all the same ... except off white, dirty white, etc...

On a side note, there is an app (possibly more out there) for your smartphone for paint mixing and comparison called iModelKit. Available at the Apple App Store.

How happy were you with XF-12 as the light gray underside for the Zero, Grey-Goose? Mine doesn't mention an equivalent for this, only for the dark green (AS-21 to XF-70).
