Richard Forster

Saint Charles, Illinois

Richard built Wingnut Wings 1/32 scale Pfalz D.III to match the D.IIIa he saw in the 1966 film “The Blue Max,” adding brass wires for the control cables and rigging. He painted with Tamiya acrylic paints and applied burnt umber artist’s oils around the wheels and nose. “I believe the lines of the Pfalz D.III were the most elegant of any aircraft of that era,” he says. “There is something about their streamlined sleekness that resonates with our innate sense of that which is beautiful.”
