Kennon writes: “While a model of a T. rex is nothing unusual, this one was chosen for a reason — except for the stand and the glue holding it together, it was entirely generated by a 3-D printer. I wanted to verify that it would work on my rather low-end Printrbot 3-D printer. I would have preferred a tank of some kind, but drawings for something like that with enough detail would be expensive and unlikely to work on my printer. So I chose the T. rex by Sharebot (www.sharebot.it), which I got from Thingiverse (www.thingiverse.com/thing:1610894) as a free download. It comprised 43 stl (stereolithography) files which produced more than 100 parts for assembly. It was supposed to be approximately 2 meters long and 1 meter tall (about 79 inches long and 39 inches tall) high. However, my printer’s bed is only 4" x 4", so I had to downsize it to 25%. That made it 21 inches long. Some of the parts were almost too small to print, but after a few repeats I got the final model shown here.”
