Somewhere on U.S. Route 66, in John’s imagination as well as on a 2- x 1-foot piece of plywood, is a tourist trap called The Last Dinosaur. John writes: “Los Angeles is 300 miles away. The tourist trap has seen better days, and there is only one beat-up car in parking lot.” For the record, the scale is HO and the dinosaur’s name is Malcolm. The door on the shop came from Tichy Train Group. Woodland products account for topography, the palm tree, and the concrete and asphalt pavement (with white stripes in the parking lot made from 1/16-inch strips of Line O Tape). The black iron fence is from Model Power with aluminum-painted bars added on top. An Oxford die-cast 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Coupe 1950 was weathered with Monroe chalky white and spray-painted with Krylon flat clear. Malcolm (the dinosaur) is from Schleich.
