About Bugatti Fan

I am a keen model maker, now retired, and have been a member of IPMS UK since 1974.  My main interests are Classic Cars and Sailing whatever else takes my fancy whether it be a particular aeroplane, figure, military vehicle-whatever! Although I have written articles for a number of magazines in the past and did a stint as IPMS UK magazine Editor back in 1975 / 76, I do not consider myself to be an expert modeller. Just someone who enjoys the hobby, and sharing tips and techniques with other like minded people. I love to talk to modellers who are into other modelling disciplines such as model railways, aircraft, science fiction, trucks, trams and horse drawn vehicles. It is amazing how some of their techniques can be adapted to my own interests in model making. I started plastic kit building when I was a school kid back in the 1950's when Airfix kits were 2 shillings each at Woolworths. Like most kids, it was a quick glue job, get the decals on and hang the Spitfires and ME109s by thread from the ceiling in imaginary dogfights. I expect we have all been there! Then I discovered paint, and the modelling developed on from there! The Sixties came along and the model making went onto the back  burner as England went into overdrive, with the Beatles and other Liverpool groups from the Cavern Club becoming world famous as did the Rolling Stones who played London's Marquee Club. Britain led the world in pop fashion with icons such as Twiggy and Mary Quant. The Mini Car became classless as did the Mini Skirt. We even won the World Cup in 1966! So my interests then were playing drums in a group, cars, girls. etc., Before finally marrying and settling down in 1969. I must have gone back to my hobby in 1971 or 1972 I guess and been model making in fits and starts ever since.
