Annoying Problem With This Site
Posted by J.Warnell on Thursday, December 25, 2008 8:56 PM
Nearly every time I pull up this web site, I see something that I would like to read about. This of course, is a good thing. The problem is that when you log onto the site, everything on the page changes, and what you were interested in reading about is gone. VERY ANNOYING.

Not sure wha you mean. If you are referencing posts and threads, things can change rather quickly as others tend to post frequently.

I'd also noticed too that sometimes the thread title changes as the owners edit, but usually gets listed under the original title. It is a bit of a quirk, but after a little bit of time surfing the forums, you'll be able to pinpoint where the item listed originated from!

Warmest regards,

Roger

If the original poster changes the thread title, it carries through to the thread listing in that particular sub-forum page.

Another issue is when someone posts a reply and changes the "subject" line above the editing window. What happens then is that if the most recent thread in a particular forum has the "subject" line altered, this is what shows in the "main" forum menu. However, if you then open that subforum, the threads will be listed with the original thread title. This can often be confusing.

I am not talking about the forums. The forum layout is great. The problem is with the published reviews and articles on the home page.

Maybe this problem will be fixed, because Kelly Shaw(one of the moderators), said some changes will be happening to the site and forum soon. What they are, I don't have a clue.

J.

I know exactly what you are talking about - often times, for me it is the pics of models from the online gallery.  One may be pictured on the main page, with a promise of more pics inside, but when I click on it, I don't get taken to more photos of that particular model, and often times, I can't even find the one I saw on the main page!!!

I believe this is set up to give the viewer more things to look at. You can change these items by refreshing the page. It's one way of getting advertisers in view regularly. This is a common web page practice.

One way to have acces to what comes up as soon as you open the site it to not log off at the end of the session  so when you go to your favorites/bookmarks you'll not have to go through the log in process each time. Simply close your browser or go to another site.

You're absolutely correct – on the home page, the content in the main feature well rotates when the page is refreshed. This, indeed, should be fixed in the near future.

Currently, all the content you see on the home page can be found elsewhere on the site. If you're interested in a review, click on "Model Kit Reviews." Just about all the other stories circulating through the home page can be found under "How-to Articles" or "Downloadable articles."

Hope this helps somewhat.
