Links in a new window/tab.
Posted by Fokker1138 on Thursday, March 12, 2009 6:56 PM

I'm mostly used to phpbb when it comes to forums, but I was wondering if it was possible to change the coding so that when you click on a link that it opens in a new window/tab?  It's a small thing and really no big deal, but I keep clicking on links without thinking and end up having to back track.  It's not a life or death thing, but I just find it far easier, especially if you are still reading a thread and want to read a reference link.

I was also wondering if there was a root search function from the main forum list or if I had to go to each subforum to do a search.

Thanks for your feedback.

To address your second question: After you run a search, scroll down to the bottom of the search-results page. You'll find a button that says "More search options." That'll take you here:

/search/

This page allows you to focus your search to specific sub forums.

Hope that helps.

Kelly, FSM

If you have a scroll wheel mouse, clicking the scroll button opens links in a new tab. At least in IE7 and Firefox.

So long folks!

Yeah, I know about that.  I just tend to left click on them out of habit and end up having to back track and then right click.  Like I said, not a major thing, just one of those annoying ones.
