Horror & Monster Forum
Posted by toysoldierman on Saturday, April 25, 2009 6:50 PM

A few days ago I suggested a forum for horror and monsters.A few of you posted back that these subjects would go well under the Sci-Fi forum? Sorry but I have to disagree! I've looked there and all I see is Star Wars & Star Trex and absolutely nothing about horror or monsters.I'm sure I'm not the only person on here thats in to horror and monster models cause if thats the case then I probably shouldn't be a member here? Dose anyone else here think that horror and monster models should have their own forum? Thanks for listening.

Maybe you aren't seeing much because not too many folks do those subjects. I don't know why an extra sub-forum is needed when it may get very little traffic. I'm not trying to be a jerk. Just saying. Maybe post some of your work or start a thread about Horror and Monster kits will get the ball rolling in the Sci-Fi forum. Just a suggestion.

Regards,

Jeff

Hi Toysoldierman,

Sorry, but I agree with Jeff for the same reason, I suspect that a specialised Monsters/Horror forum would be under-utilised.

The Sci-Fi forum was not the only option suggested - I believe that most respondents in the other thread suggested that both Sci-Fi and Figures.forums might be suitable alternatives.

I would lean towards figures rather than Sci-Fi, considering that many of the "classic" monsters are essentially figures. Construction, painting and detailing techniques are essentially identical. The scope of the Figures forum is rather broad - it covers historical and fantasy figures and wildlife - including dinosaurs. I'm sure that monsters and horror subjects would fit right in.

The modern concept of horror and monster might have relatively little support here since much of it is, shall we say, a bit less than "family friendly." I think quite a bit would get moderated out.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

In the past year or so, FSM has featured classic-horror icons in the magazine's Reader Gallery, including Frankenstein, Dracula, and Godzilla. And I know Nosferatu's on deck for a future issue. So I don't see a problem with horror-themed figures being posted to the Sci-Fi or Figures threads.

If you want monsters and horror than I would suggest the ClubHouse.

Over half the posts are of kit's of this sort and there is even a section for the old Aurora kits.

New monster and zombie kit's are constanly being made available to members.

You have to be a signed up member to even view the forum but you can look through the Museum of some of the kit's people have done.

Gore and nudity are allowed as long as there is a warning in the thread title.

honestly, if you want to get people to post about this topic, to drum up suppost for it getting it's own forum, post your own work. Scifi was close to dead untill I and a few others started posting, now its a jumping place
