Most requested kit idea... enough!
Posted by Bocks Suv on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 10:41 PM

We've now been asked to respond to this nonsense poll 3 times then wait until Sept to see results. So that means 4-5 more requests. Who gives a ******??   Wha.. the companies are going to listen and produce dozens of new kit ideas. FSM shuld do polls for fun and give us results the next month, not wait all year. Hell, by then we would have forgotten what we voted for..and with som many active modelers being 50+, some might even been dead by then.

They probably wait that long due to that was about how long it took for the poll to be announced, results received, tabulated, and then publicized in the pre Internet days. Back when the poll was in the magazine only. And as often as not, many of the top kits in the poll would end up being released as a new kit. they won't produce dozens of new kits. But they often produce a few that were not out there before.

Actually, we wanted to give as many readers as possible enough time to respond to the survey so we can publish, in the magazine, the most comprehensive list so part of that time includes magazine production. And, to answer part of your question, based on the three polls we've published in the past, manufacturers do pay attention to the lists. Almost half of the kit's requested by readers in the 2006 survey have since been produced.

Sounds fair. I apologize for going off. Was 2006 the best year?

Bocks Suv

Was 2006 the best year?

It's sort of tough to answer because the manufacturers have had more time to respond to the surveys in the past but looking at some of them like 1997 I'd say it's as high as 80-85 percent.

Cheers, Aaron
