I'd rather see a FSM than half the bogan and redneck stuff you see today.

I think FSM swag would sell!
Stickers, coffee mugs, Tee shirts ect. They can have different logos to reflect the varied interests the majority of readers are interested in. I for one would purchase a few.
It is a form of shameless advertising yet so many companies do so. It can be done with a touch of class keeping the logo small with the web site address. Suggestions for shirts:
#1: Build Better!
(insert picture of tank, ship or figure)
with LOGO & web address on lower right corner.
#2: FSM on front right top of Tee with web address.
Back: a sprue frame with the completed tank, ship, car busting through the middle.
Bottom of back: Evolution!
I can go on thinking these up all day. At the very least I want a coffee mug & sticker w/ FSM logo!
Jason
Me to i would love to have more stuff to stick on stuff .wouldnt mind a coffe mug . R J.
How about "Got Sprue?" in giant letters?!

We've never really done anything like this, but some of our sister publications have with, er, limited success.
I still like the idea, though, and I'll see what I can do.

It's all in the marketing Matt, make sure they are billed as Limited Editions! :)
I like the idea of a coffee mug or small thermos, shirts, and goodies, but I would settle for a sticker. Nothing too drastic. :P

Having stickers or shirts or coffee mugs might also be useful as a 'giveaway' to subscribers or members who do something (participate in a poll, get a pic in the mag, whatever). For example, as my subscription winds down and I consider whether to re-up or not, I'd be a heck of a lot more likely to be swayed by, say, a free t-shirt with my subscription than I am (or will be) by a complementary copy of some collection of previously published articles that I can find in my back issues of FSM.
You could also bring a load of those t-shirts when you come out to AMPSEast (Danbury CT; end of September. You can pick the doog up on your way through NY...) this fall and hand them out to your loyal members.... (I betcha you could sell a bunch there too... heck, if you're too busy, send 'em to me and I'll sell 'em for ya... for a small 'finders fee'.....)

Here is a sample of some of the hundreds of stickers I make from the completely asinine to the corporate logo. This is part of how I make my living. Five feet from me is a Roland SP300 digital print/cut machine .Files can be emailed for processing .I have made and shipped signs and decals all over North America. I think the GOT SPRUE ? is great ! I have been thinking of these type of decals for the hobby but the ideas are slim at best .My friend bugs me by asking if there are any hot chicks at the model club meetings. You get the picture. Any one who comes up with a good one can get some from me if they like. Got sprue made the list whoever came up with that one. Stickers are great for the kids ,when I go to swap meets I sell all day long and have people laffin' at the silly decals.Any interest lemme know.....................
They are a little jumbled cause some are not pc.
Thank you ,Krow113
Just a thought...maybe a poll of some type may be in order to see if any members would even be interested in paraphernalia...? bbrownii's idea isnt a bad idea either! If I had to pick though, I would stick with a mag subscription, it would be a better investment in the long run.
Ripcord I like the idea of a coffee mug or small thermos, shirts, and goodies, but I would settle for a sticker. Nothing too drastic. :P
but ya hafta assemble 'em and paint 'em yerself - buying pre-made just isn't done by a true hobbyist........
haha!

Maybe I was not particularly clear in that post. It seems like you might have misunderstood me (or I am misunderstanding you). Currently, FSM often offers an incentive to either subscribe or renew your subscription to the mag. Usually it is one of the 'special' issues - for example one on paintbrushing techniques. The thing is, most of those issues are just recycled articles from previous issues of the mag itself, so as a subscriber, you've already seen them. My point is I would rather be offered a coffee cup, for example, as my incentive to renew. Or a t-shirt.... or an all expense paid trip to the destination of my choice...
LOLZ @ krow
I always liked logos that ripped off famous ones. Snowboard shops are always doing this and its eye catching with a touch of sarcasm. They are changed just enough to avoid copyright issues and actually are a tribute to the original design. Hear are a few I just thought up:
'Sprue 66' with a tank / plane or car in red white & blue silhouette logo. Shaped like the famous road sign and the lettering attached like a sprue frame.
'fSm' Orange oval with blue writing outlined in white like the famous sTp logo. 'Performance modeling formulas'
'FSMCAR' Checkered flag & model NASCAR, just like the Bubba swag. Ok a bit too far with this one.
'Red, White & Sprue!' with sub-logo 'We need you... to build better models'
Ok the top one is the best for sure, the rest are fun and provide examples of the the original idea.

and if unhappy....
add an I in front and a consonant replaces the question mark.......
...further confusing anyone not in the hobby... I love it!
