Being a bed-bugger (professional mover) I would suggest using small plastic totes and pillow stuffing.  Put a layer of stuffing in the bottom of the tote, then a layer of models.  Aircraft travel better on their backs (landing gear up), while armor travels better on it tracks.  Then add another layer of stuffing and another layer of models.  I have used this method to ship build models accross the world and had minimal problems.

I have been building models for quite awhile now, and am in the process of moving and am looking for tips on how to package my models so as not to damage them.  Any ideas?
