nsclcctl, You read my mind, A lot of the spelling errors must be due to typo's, I make quite a few, BUT I ALWAYS READ THROUGH & CORRECT BEFORE I POST. Also, not everyone has broadband, all these pictures slow things down. The only way I can get a decent download time is to go on early in the morning, usually 6.00AM on Thursday & Friday ( The weekend here in desertland). At the moment it's 04.25, & I'm about to go for breakfast before heading to work for a 6.00AM start. Yet even at this time it's taking minutes for some threads to open up. So smaller or less pictures would be a big help.

Doe this image look any smaller than before?

I reduced the original file pic to the smallest available to me (320 x 200).

It looks the same to me.

yeah, I think the biggest was dwight's tank moving across the banner, but it was slowed down by david, and it worked good. BTW he no longer uses that sig. and his new one is fairly small

LSU...LSU...LSU...BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Hehe.

I think the resizing has to be done by the person who posts the pic. FSM automatically resizes the image, but if you're on dialup, it wouldn't happen instantly like it does for broadband. I will agree that as a matter of common courtesy, most people should resize their sig images, but also, most of them do. I can understand your frustration here waiting for stuff to load up, but are you sure that it's people's sig images and not other posted images or just slow web connection on certain pages? I've been looking at peoples images and for the most part, they're not very big.

First off, I meant board and not bored.
Second, all I am asking is can the person using pics in the signature resize them or is it us on the receiving end? Pics are great, don't get me wrong, however, I am scrolling and scrolling to find message and often scrolling the same pictures. By the way, the modern fighter with OU needs to be changed to LSU baby!!!!!

I'm with the recognising people by their pix school of thought.

I don't think they should be bill borad sized, I'm not that blind, but big enough for quick recognition.

I also just finally got a pic on my signature this weekend. I personally enjoy them, as I tend to recognize people by their pics, and I can immediately picture their response, attitudes, preferences, etc........for me it's just a familarity issue.....kinda like comin home for the holidays after being overseas.

I never knew that there was that option.

Seems like that would be a very simple solution.

Now that I can post images, the thought occurred to me that the same one, over and over, would get to be boring, so I decided that I would rotate images after a certain length of time (or whenever the fancy strikes me) in order to keep it fresh.

I like the pics myself, I like to see things people have picked out for themselves, and to see the changes they make as time goes on. If I didn't have broadband, I might feel differently, but then I'd probably select the don't show other people's signatures option in my profile.

Having just added a pic to my sig this last wekend, I took into consideration how it would appear size-wise. I cropped the photo as much as I thought I could and still keep it visually balanced.

Is my pic an example of what your topic is referring too.or are you speaking of something else? Criticism is welcome here.

Use a program called "Irfanview". It is FREE and easy to use.

yep, I agree with you on that all the way. but, also I made sure my signature does not take very much space, in consideration for those with slower connection speeds

To be honest, and not to offend, but I think that the signatures and posted pix are one of my favorite parts... I guess I just haven't had an issue with the pix. I'm always happy to see a thread where pix are posted, and I have come to identify some by their sig. pic. to me it's like their identity... just my My 2 cents [2c]

Or, you can scroll past them and not infringe on someone's freedom to express their individuality.

I have "show signatures" disabled in my profile, did after the first few days here.

But agree that page-long and graphic intense signatures are more of a pain than anything.

Hmmmm.... each image is set to resize itself after said image loads, then the viewer clicks on the *smaller* image, and it opens in a seperate window in full size. Yes, there are a lot of Signatures used, which represent the individual some way, but quite honestly, never considered them a problem.

Maybe this should be directed to the individual/s who are including a "massive" signature block to thier post...?

I agree. There are so many signatures out there that seriously need to be scaled back. I don't need to see a plane or a tank that takes up half of the screen. They would be doing a great service to the forum if they replaced it with something smaller or, as stated before, just show it once and that's it.

ps nsclcctl since you asked about the spelling, it should be "bored", as in failure to arouse interest etc; a "board peeve" may well refer to a surfer who isn't get getting good surf that day!! I wouldn't mind seeing them again and again if the graphics were smaller. Some of the signatures really slow down page loading on my dail-up connection.

I agree. It's always nice to see the work some of our members have completed and some of the graphics / patches / logos / photos / etc in the members personal signatures but we only need to see them once.

I don't know if the spelling is correct and I know I will upset some people. But, when I open messages, some of the photos are just becoming a bit much. The photos are fine, it is the size. I am scrolling down and down looking for text. Now, there may be a way I can change the way my computer sees things, I will buy that I am ignorant. If not, please be aware that when you have something consistently posted in your messages, we see it time after time after time and it takes up a lot of space. If anything, simply reduce the size as some have done and keep it tasteful. OK, start dropping bombs on me, I deserve it. I am just tired of all the space taken up by the same photos.
