I remember that. Ballsy guy. That is also the only MOH award that has a photograph to verify the action. You see Fisher's Spad on a strip at the A Shau SF camp as it's being overrun-bad guys everywhere, mortar rounds exploding, airstrip full of holes, and the rescued pilot running like hell for the Skyraider. Sounds like a movie plot, but it's all true. Legendary stuff. Those guys also did a hell of a job supporting the evac of the SF camp. We old SF'ers never forget a friend. - Sine Patri! -Ed

the article in the april '03 issue about the super sandy was interesting, but it mentioned another sandy pilot who received the medal of honor. My cousin, Bernard Fisher, got his MOH in '66 when he landed his A1 on a strip under fire( and practically overrun) to pick up a squadronmate who had crash landed on the same strip.
