P-61 Black Widow (Revell) - red wing stripes?
Posted by icer22x on Saturday, July 16, 2011 10:41 AM

Hello all,

First time poster here. I am close to finishing my P-61. After putting the red stripe decals on one wing, it looked to me like I was not going to have enough to finish the other wing. Well, here I am and sure enough I am not even close. I don't understand what I did wrong. The decals are exactly where the instructions say to place them and I cut them precisely - using every bit of leftover I had. I don't even have enough to finish the main outline, let alone the triangle in the middle.

Has anyone experienced this with this model? Thanks.

Well, I take that back. I was able to complete the outline on the second wing. But I am out of decals now. I cannot complete the triangle. That require 2 extra strips of red stripe. How in the world does Revell expect you to do this?

You talking about the walkways?

Never bothered with 'em...

Enormously helpful there Hans...

A better way to do walkway stripes is to paint that color on first, then lay out the stripes as a mask, then go with the final color.

Anyhoo yeah, don't sweat not having them all. Lt. Rivet Counter is still back at HQ trying to figger out why one cowl has the cooling flaps closed.
