FSM Forum Rules and Guidlines

I have never read the rules because I can't find them. There's some thing you have to do to get them to read, and I don't get it so I suffice to read them when periodically re quoted.

I'm in San Francisco, it's salami.

They're in "FSM Forum Rules and Ettiquette". 

Go one down from there and click on the forum for   "FSM Forum Rules and Ettiquette"Click on THAT.

You'll see THIS:

THEN, you will possibly see this:

"There are no posts to show. This could be because there are no posts in this forum or due to a filter."

So, you have click on the sort and filter link:

Open the drop-down under "With date". Then for now, choose "Show All" 

Then, make sure that you have chosen "Show All" again under the "With read status"  in the drop-down there.

THEN the "Forum Rules and Etiquette" post will show..

The admin that "reposted" it  locked it, so there is no way for anyone to bump it, aside from another admin doing it..

Funny thing is, you have to know where it is, AND how to get to it, in order to read the following:

what about making one of those things you have to read thru before you can create an account?  Have a "quiz" in the account-creating process to show you actually read/comprehended it?

Reasoned.. I agree.. I was in the Credit Union world for 9 years... NO ONE opens their mail.. NO ONE reads the signs you post in the lobby.. NO ONE reads the banners and pop ups on your website.. grrrrrr....lol

A small one, but I doubt you'd be comfortable calling it a baby bump.

They definitely need to be easier to locate. I had to search all over for them until I discovered the sort and filter function. It could at the very least be made a sticky in the Forums and Etiquette forum. You can't expect people to follow the rules if they don't know what the rules are.

In any case, KISS is usually the standard and we should all know what that means.

"MEN" "WOMEN" "EXIT".

If it was a sticky with about a 50 word count,  that'd do the trick. I don't think that most good sets of instructions that come to mind take much more.

We had/have similar stickies over at ModelWarships and you still find people posting against rules, be it in the wrong forum or asking questions that are answered in those posts. Humans are good at filtering out "clutter."

 

Funny parallel-  one of our professional activities is designing regulatory signage. Do people pay attention? Mostly. For the rest of them, at least it provides the basis on which to enforce the rules.

Not sure what industry your "regulatory signage" is prepared for but working in a HIGHLY regulated industry (banking) I will tell you that most customers are so inundated with rules, fine print, exceptions, etc., that they rarely read, let alone understand, much of what is thrown at them (which also goes for many of us charged with following them)!  Thank goodness these are only modeling forum rules and guidlines in question.
