As MMF knows, I'm game to build a resin anime kit (another rei ayanami one, sorry), but i can't seem to find one that's not a recast (ever since i've read what MMF had to say about recasts, i refuse to touch them). I keep asking some small local anime stores if they can source me a kit so i don't need to pay for shipping, etc (and maybe i can pay in installments!!)... So far no one carries originals (too fragile) and i can't afford to buy and ship a real one just yet. So, Rei Ayanami and Chi from chobits will just have to wait until i get some serious cash.

I've mentioned the same thing about sci-fi kits in general and the general response ( not delivered sarcastically by anyone ) was suggestions to note the number of threads in the Sci-Fi section of the board as opposed to the other areas. Most anime-related models fit in to this category and account for only a fraction of the topics there.

That's the heart of the matter: sheer numbers.

A second likely factor is that there probably aren't many people making submissions to FSM for the gallery pages. Not one to complain and not do anything about the situation, I'm planning to send pictures of several of my kits that are currently in the works to try to get some representation out there for us SF fans.

Hopefully they won't all be deemed too amateurish for use in the Gallery.

Maybe some of us SF modelers could get together and just blitz FSM with a bunch of potential Gallery submissions in the span of a month or so?Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D] It may not be regular coverage, but we might get a Sci-Fi / Anime Special or something out of it!Mischief [:-,] Anyone else want to pitch in?

Hey All,
My 12 year old and to a lessor extent my 10 year old love Gundam Wing and its
many "evolutions".I wish I had the CASH I have been forced to spend on them. I see
the problem as more of a lack of knowledge by Distributors and store buyers. That
and the high cost is the reason, as I see it, (which could be said for most SciFi kits)
that there is not more seen of them.
Just my 2 cents, though I could go to a dollar!!!
Good Hunting,

As I mentioned previously the Anime garage-kit scene is going back underground to where it originated from, good news for the guys in japan bad news for everybody else.

Most of the major kit makers are pulling out of the industry due to recasting and licencing issues, releases of new kits have dropped drastically over the last few years.
Which is not a bad thing as we now tend to get more original and lesser know characters to build.

How many Asuka, Rei, Sailor Moon kits do we really need??

FSM's forte is plastic Models, there are US publications for garage kits where they have regular features for Anime Kits.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Sorry to see that your not getting much feedback. I used to build just about everything, but after a while, I realized that if I really wanted to excell at this hobby, I needed to specialize in one area, so I did. Now I'm just a lowly treadhead. Perhaps there is a forum that specializes in your field and you would get more response there? Maybe at Modeler's Resource?

Here we are, eight days after the thread started and no replies.

I think that says it all. Wink [;)]

I love FSM and all but why don't they cover anime models along with the ships, cars and military models? anime models are just as popular and people customize them just as much or even more than military models.
Im sure theres more then enough then to fill a section and it would give the mag. some diversity, plus not so many american mags cover these types of models.
