I am a long time reader and I have three suggestions. I would like to see more comparison articles between similar kits. For example, do a comparison of all 1/48 scale kits of the P-38 Lighting. Items compared should include quality of the kit, accuracy, detail, available aftermarket parts and accessories (this should be a quick statement such as none, few, many, or numerous and should not be a running list), ease of build, price, etc. You get the picture. The more the comparisons the better. This should be a column comparison method for ease of the reader. This can be a rather short segment and need not take up more than a page. No fluff, just data.
Now for the second suggestion. When the comparison is done you should make recommendations as to what after-market parts are available. You should list the manufacturer, where the parts fit, and their price.
I believe this will have several benefits. One, people don’t have to buy blind anymore. They will know up front if they have a great kit or one they should have their 9 year old build and shoot up with a BB gun then set on fire. Secondly they can find all they need in one place and they don’t have to scour the net to find quality after-market items to make their project great. The after-market manufactures should be please also. The word gets out to more people what they have to offer, letting the consumer know that parts are available to make a poor to average kit into a museum piece.
Last suggestion, your Fine Scale Modeler: 25 Year Collection is too expensive. I believe the price should be no more than $49.95, but should be only $29.95. It is better to make a little on a lot, then a lot on a little.
