Where is my July issue???

LOL!  Actually....yeah!  I have two young kids which means I don't get a lot of things for myself.  The last time I bought a new shirt, I can't begin to tell you how overcome with guilt I was because I got something for myself.

My FSM subscription has been a Christmas gift to me from my dad for the past several years.  Getting an issue of FSM in the mail each month is the one glowing time when something shows up just for me (that isn't a bill).

Tim, thank you for the explanation.  I've never been concern when my magazine shows up.  When I open my mail box and find it in there, then that day instantly becomes like Christmas.  It's the little things in like that make me happy.

No problem. I understand the frustration that can sometimes arise, and I try to do what I can to help. So, what you're telling me, is that you get at least 11 Christmases a year? Wow.

For the record, I have not opened up the latest issue to read it yet.  When I got home from work yesterday, I saw that my two daughters had already gone through it and circled all the pictures of the models they liked and wanted me to get.  So basically they circled EVERY SINGLE PICTURE!  

I brought it with me to work today so I can finally read it during my lunch hour.  As I look at it now sitting on my desk, every picture on the front cover is circled with their name scribbled by each picture.  That's how they let me know which one likes which kit.

Good news...got my copy in the mail today! Congrats to Don on a fine article and Reader`s Gallery offering. I`m looking forward to getting back to building again...Hurricane Sandy really put a crimp in my modeling....got power at the new house and plumbing nearly finished and hope to move in by July...taking forever it seems...lol.

Now that I've gotten mine and seen the content, I think congratulations to Don are in order for his fine article about a Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter. A challenging subject (especially the paintwork), and one that doesn't get enough attention. I don't think many Americans are conscious of the Coast Guard and it's missions.

Later edit: I am getting sick and tired of this I-phone's misguided attempts to "correct" my spelling and punctuation. It's repeatedly turned posts with simple technical terms into gibberish, and the things it does to other members' screen names are sometimes pretty funny. Its latest fad is to change "its" to "it's." (It just tried to do it again.) I have to make that correction on hundreds of student papers per year. I surely make enough genuine typos for anybody. I resent the attempts of this...apparatus to make me look even stupider than I am.

I wouldnt be surprised.  They locked the other one about this issue! But I guess I can see why.  The other one people were yelling back and fourth.  I mean come on its not THAT big of a deal.  Dont worry be happy.  : )

I can give you a little insight to what happens behind the scenes here. The reason we work nearly on issue nearly four months in advance is because we need the lead time to make sure the issues get to the printers and back to us with plenty of time to get them out the door to subscribers. So, just as an example, I handed off October feature stories yesterday.

We have a preset on-sale date for every issue. As an example, July's on-sale date was June 3. From that date, we create a production calendar that tells us when materials are due and who needs them to make sure we hit that date. Subscriber copies start going out the door nearly two weeks before the newsstand/store on-sale date, with the specific intent of getting you your copies before non-subscribers. You buy them from us, so we want to get you your copy as quickly as possible. Again, as an example, our domestic delivery target dates ranged from 5/29 to 6/3. That's when we hoped to have magazines in the majority of our U.S. subscribers' hands.

Those dates can be affected by any number of events that are beyond our control once the issues have left our loading dock--but we try to get them into the mail system as early as we can to make sure you get them on time.

As for things being funky with July. A huge magazine distributor, Source Interlink, just went belly up. That shouldn't affect subscriber deliveries, but it will certainly put a kink in the hose for a lot of magazines.

It's pretty clear that there's an unusual problem in the shipping of the magazines this month.  It doesn't appear to be the management's fault.

Unfortunately, the post office has not been very keen on distributing subscription magazines on time.............

Mine finally arrived yesterday.  (How much splendor can you jam into one lifetime?!!)

For what little it's worth, my copy arrived in the mail today. This afternoon I went to Barnes and Noble (the only store in town that stocks it); B&N didn't have it.

It's pretty clear that there's an unusual problem in the shipping of the magazines this month.  It doesn't appear to be the management's fault.

This has been happening and has discussed in a few other threads too.  For some reason this July's issue is kinda inconsistent as far as where they are showing up.  I buy mine at the local shop and they just got them in yesterday.  Some guys in Canada and on the east coast said they had theirs a couple weeks ago.  Kinda weird.  Im sure they will make sure you get it though.
