I love my FineScale Modeler, I await each issue with joy. But I get busy and sometimes it takes me awhile to notice changes. This latest copy felt very, very light to me, so on a whim I went back to my vast collection of past issues and began noticing a pattern. Randomly selected:
January 1996 - 90 pages, 3.95
July 2003 - 90 pages, 4.95
December 2005 - 82 pages, 5.50
September 2009, 72 pages, 5.95
December 2011, 66 pages, 5.95
March 2012, 66 pages, 5.95
February 2014, 66 pages, 5.99
Apparently I have been missing something for awhile now. Perhaps because my current issue was in such pristine shape upon delivery it only then became apparent we've lost roughly 25% of our magazine while paying 1.5 times as much. We've gone from 90 pages down to 66. That's including the cover as page 1.
Yes, I understand inflation and costs increase. But how about raising the cost of the magazine a bit and giving us back those missing 20 pages for each glorious copy? Surely now with the digital technology at hand the time to produce the magazine has gone down. InDesign and Photoshop were in their infancy back in 1996. Those missing pages would give us more to go back and read during those 2 months a year we don't get a copy in the mail.
Just a suggestion.
