Contests and Participants

I really think it's great that FSM has these amazing contests. They're great promotions, have interesting themes and the prizes are very enticing.

It would be nice, however, if they were open to subscribers and readers of FSM and the website who do not reside in the US. The latest paint contest is now the third in about a year that I'd really like to take part in but can't because I'm not an American resident.

Steve,

I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, different countries have different rules regarding sweepstakes and other giveaways and we can't ensure that we are in compliance with those. Doing so would make contests unwieldy. Therefore we limit them to US residents.

Regards, Aaron

Thanks for getting back to me on this Aaron. I can appreciate FSM's position.

If you have the time and resources, you might want to check on Canada's policies. They are generally pretty simple and Canadians do not pay taxes on winnings from lotteries or contests. Years ago, I was part of a promotion with Coca-Cola and Walmart and whether prizes were won by Americans or Canadians did not seem to be an issue with the respective legal departments.

Thanks again,

Stephen
