Pre Plastic Modeling

Great article on modeling in pre plastic era. Reminded me of the hand carved Brewster I have at home. This a/c was presented to my Finnish grandfather during the war while he was a war correspondant in Finalnd.
The a/c was hand carved by a Sgt A. Korhonen on the front lines at Tiiksjarvi in 22.04.42
While admiring the work of Chick Gayley I cannot but marvel at the quality of this model considering the circumstances. Today this model is a treasured family heirloom as my father also fought in the war against Russia.
