Yeah, the quick reply didn't have the option to turn it on or off. I was debating about adding it there.

I figured that the link that's right above and to the left of the Quick reply box did the same thing. If you're watching the topic you will see a message "Stop watching this topic", if you're not watching the topic, the message will display "Watch this topic for replies".

Thanks David. I think what I was doing was using the quick reply a lot and there it doesn't give you the option to turn it on or off. I really appreciate the quick response.

Consider it done.

Someday....I want to add this as an option under your account/profile. To be able to select what you want the default option to be - on or off.

I've seen this on other forum packages - unfortunately, it's not an option in this one. It's something I have to add.

Would it be possible to set the notify option to default to off instead of on? I always forget that it is working now and I start posting and all of a sudden I've got a bunch of notices in my email. I suppose once I get accustomed to it and remember that it is on it won't be such a big deal. Right now it is REALLY annoying, though.

Ray

Now to remember to uncheck notification option!!

No, you didn't miss the intro -- there was no intro. Blush [:I]

I'm glad that you noticed it and like it. Personally, I never gave that feature much thought, but I've come to appreciate this similiar feature on another forum I regularly visit. I have been wanting to get this feature working over here, especially with the activity that takes place in this forum. It's easy to quickly lose track of topics you're interested in and/or have participated in.

This feature was turned on late this afternoon. The feature has always been there, but I wasn't happy with how it worked. So I've been waiting until I could make a couple of changes regarding how the notification process worked.

Originally, with this feature on, while you were "watching a topic" you would be notified every time someone posted to that topic. If you happened to pick a hot topic, left for the day, you could come back to find 15 notification messages for the same topic.

What I did was change it so that it would send out a single notification message (regardless of the number of subsequent replies) until you returned to read that topic. After you re-visit that topic, you'll receive another notification message the first time someone posts a new reply since your last visit.

David,

Did I miss the intro for this new option? When did this happen? I like it though.
