Because the freeware chat software either: 1) Pops up advertisements all the time, 2) Doesn't work, 3) Doesn't support many users. The "Good" chat software isn't cheap. We are looking for some for a forum I help administer and the best candidate we've found costs around $500.

If anyone has ides for good chat software, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

the prolem with that though is that you have to refresh all the time, and thats the point of a chat room.

I still have the chat room at my web site open to anyone to use. Even I forgot about it being there lately.

There was a beta chatroom which is still active but whenever I go in there these days, it's empty. A few of us did manage to have a regular chat for awhile, but that was... months ago and it fizzled out. I dunno if anyone is still using it these days...

i dont know if fsm is watching this thread but there, in the past, has been talk of a chatroom and some members had access to one. chris has one that is used sparingly. (sorry chris i forgot about it also) a chatroom on site would be nice. although timing would be difficult. after all not all of us live in the central time zone in the usa. we would have to work out a standard time. but until the chatroom is available i will use the msgr programs i have and chat my fool head off.

a plastic modelers chat room????????...........Bow [bow]
SoapBox [soapbox]My 2 cents [2c]dunno 'bout y'all but, yahoo, msn, icq and other web sites have had or do have chat rooms for hobbyists/modelers but, and a big butt it is, never have i once been in any of them that plastics is ever the subject of any conversation.........it's not unlike all other chat rooms on the net, in that it is solely about someone's proclivity towards sexual prowess or a "forum" to rant about life's misgivings and who should be held responsible...........
i'd love a place for real time discussions regarding our hobby but, am snake bit by the thought that if it is not monitored, it would get out of hand and well off topic.......

haveing said all that.....you've got my vote and support for what it's worth.......
but, not at the expense of this forum being cast to the 4 winds........this place is growing on me.................Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

i am on the chatroom test team here and only ever got to use it a few times, the only reason is that there was never anyone on at the time. if someone was to sort of ...err.... "accidentally" posted the link to the chatroom would the management get very p***ed with that forum member???.
