i was just thinkin', and i may be way out of line here, but here goes. what are your thoughts on having a special place to post photos of your finished builds? although my passion lies in fixed wing aircraft, i find myself searching through the many threads (armor, helos, ships, ect.) in search of viewing some finished builds in different subjects because i thoroughly enjoy viewing other peoples work!! however, its tiresome and time consuming searching through the piles of posts trying to find them!! it would be kinda like the reference thread that just kicked up, everybody that wanted to post pics of their finished builds would be go to this place and post them. it would be a community thing and not limited to just one subject but all inclusive. the only rule being that the subject must be completed. no "in progress" photos, they could stay in their respective threads to get advice and such, just finished builds. what are your thoughts? comments welcome. later.

monrad, that would be ok but i think it would be a little confusing. i mean, you would view someones work and if i wanted to ask a question or make a comment, i'd have to refer to which photo shoot i was making the comment on and the guy who finished the build may never see it!! i think it would be cool to put all the subjects under one photo gallery. and maybe make a rule stating that you had to state the model's name and scale in the subject box. for example, if i finished a 1/48 P-51D, i'd type that in the subject box so when i pulled up the "photo gallery" thread, i could scan the page and see what builds had been posted and who posted them. i think its a cool idea, but thats just me. i think it could also bring in more members as well. just thinking out loud here, but if i were a guest on this site, i could browse forum and my attention would be caught by a thread with a title of "Photo Gallery". you cant make a post unless you are a member, so it could boost membership, i don't know. i'm sure that may have its downside too. i know when i visit people's web sites on this forum, the first place i go is to look at there pics!! just a thought. later.

Would be nice. I like looking at other models occasionally to steal get ideas for mine. Sure would make it alot easier to find them if they were all in one place. That and would just be one more thing to waste hours looking through instead of building.Big Smile [:D]

I totally agree, there should be a FSM gallery on the forums. All credit to rongeorge, without his work there would be very few pics at all.
A forum should be set up so that any member can post a pic directly from their PC to the gallery, either directly or via e-mail attachment. An FSM moderator could check the submissions before they enter the gallery, not for quality, but for contaminated files, virus, etc.
A 24 hour delay from submisson to posting in the gallery should be implemented and at the top of the forum a sticky that sets out the rules i,e, how to post, picture size limits, content etc.
If the people at FSM contact the people at modelwarships.com, then something good could be created.

well, i'm trying to keep the trouble that it would cause the admin folks by leaving the way we post our pics as is, just give us a designated location all under one roof to post them. that way, i can be lazy and spend 10 minutes browsing the "Photo Gallery" thread and look at whats hot out of the oven. i'm not asking for anything elaborate, just one designated place to post finished builds. later.

Great idea Saltydog ----- please FSM!

I continually search the A/C and diorama forums looking for completed builds. They are great learning tools. Although my confidence in my modeling abilities sure takes a beating!

I think the builds should be catagorized by type - A/C, Armour, Dioramas ,etc.

I'd like to see the finished group builds hosted in one location too.

I agree that it is a great idea, but would also see it done so that it is quick and easy to only see the aircraft posts, or armor, or...whatever your pleasure is.

They're all good aren't they Leon? Cool [8D] It would be nice if they were organized under seperate headings though, under General Modeling per say.

great idea, this is one of the biggest and most frequented forums I know and this makes it a little harder to find some special things. I would prefer an extra topic with separated threads for each model to assign comments and questions.

YES, I vote for it.

Sounds like a great idea to me Chris, that's a big old YES from me. I think this is a great idea. I bet it would be one of the most viewed areas on the site, not only by members, but by visitors as well. Please powers that be.... please could we have a gallery section.... please?!?

This is a killer idea. Im supprized that it has taken this long for it to be brought up. I do agree that there has to be a better way of submitting pics. I was at it for a few frustrating days trying to figure it out. Its a good thing I wear a K-pot cause there were a few times that I ended up banging my head against the desk! Black Eye [B)]
