FSM Hall of Fame
Posted by berny13 on Friday, July 30, 2004 3:33 PM
To the staff at FSM. Would it be possible to have a FSM Hall of Fame. An area dedicated to a member that left for what ever reason, through death or personal reasons. Just list their name, number of posts and dates of membership. It would be locked out and only the staff would be able to add or edit the names.

Shermanfreak was a very dedicated member that went out of his way to assist any one needing help. His reason for pulling out are unknown. I feel that his contribution was a major factor in making this forum a success. He was one of the first to join the forum, and helped to get it off of the ground.

Just a suggestion and my My 2 cents [2c]

HEY,
And ill put in a third. This will be very nice when people start to get old and die(not trying to be disrespectful, but its the sad truth everyone will die someday) and all of those people that helped the forum stay alive that are no longer with us, whether in the forums or on this earth, will be remembered for their contributions.

I guess mine would be the seventh? This is a very good idea. But by what criteria would said persons be judged? surely not on number of posts alone. Why not have a general vote and let the forum people decide who enters? Kind of like they do with "modeler of the year" type deal. If so would the criteria be that they've left or died? Wouldn't it be better to give recognition while said person is still active? If so I would like to include Swanny, Blackwolf3945 and Fightinjoe (for the moral boost if nothing else, this man is a one person USO).

Given this some thought. Would this work? Have people nominate a person, take all of these nominations and let everyone vote on them once a month and then have a runoff between the top 12 at the end of the year for induction into the FSM HOF. This way there wouldn't be a logjam at the very beginning. There should also be a way to do this posthumously for people already departed. Anyways this is just some random thoughts I had about this and thought I would throw out on the table for discussion.
