I think I can see where the confusion comes in. That wonderful image was one of many taken by Paul Boyer at the 2003 IPMS Region II in Reston, VA and I believe was used on the cover to promote the March issue's 'Show Gallery' where that particular event was featured.
I'll need to defer to the edit staff about whether or not to expect any additional coverage of Mr Spearman's work or the F9F-5 in particular.
