New Skin Options PLEASE!!!
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 10:34 PM

Not diggin' the new layout at all.  With this skin it is hard on my eyes, and difficult to discern between one post or the next.  All of our sigs have been cut, we can lock our own posts, I can't tell what is new and what isn't, none of the old links work for the group build pages, I now have to deal with 2 banner ads that won't go away even though I am a subscriber, etc, etc.

But I just really need a different skin option, or I will not be able to browse these forums for more than a few seconds.  For some reason it is really tough on my eyes.

Know what ya mean. After about 10 minutes I have to go play a game or something because it makes my eyes hurt and gives me a headache.

Any suggestions?

Which pages and parts are you finding hard on the eyes?

Uh-huh. I'll try that.

Kids, I need you off the comp so I can do some important forum stuff. <ten minutes goes by> Dad, why are you play Call of Duty 2? Well son, it was hurting my eyes... LOL

Seriously though, skin options would be good. Even I find the white background tiring to look at...

So long folks!

Usually the forum programs have skin options for each individual user.  So it is limited by your forum software.  Basically just an option that each individual can utilize through their profile settings.  I am not sure what your software package includes.

It is the whole forum, not a particular page.  Basically the Border, and the background is what is bothering my eyes.  Not sure how to explain it other than the colors kind of blend together for me, there is no umm... sharpness I guess you could say.  It makes me feel like I need glasses....lol

Not to be a smartass but maybe you should get your eyes checked, this could be a sign that you do in fact need glasses.

Why yes, you are absolutely correct!  Why didn't I think of that?  Perhaps it is the fact that I can see everything else in the world clearly.

The tan/khaki (whatever you want to call it) on the sides and in the forum is different, not too far off from what was used before.  The greys though are the exact colors from the old site.  There was spacing between posts on the old site.  There was a white background.  The green isn't used on the site anymore.

I don't know.  I'm not dismissing anyone's comments in this thread, but I'm not seeing it.  I'm going to dig up some screenshots from the old site for a better comparison.  I've spent too much time on the new site to do a comparison from memory.

This forum software does support skin options, but I wasn't going to create extra skins just for the sake of having multiple skins.  Perhaps through some discussion here, I can look into creating one that addresses some of the issues brought up here.

There are eye problems that start out as simple irritation when reading things like computer screens. But then you're the expert.
