Whatever Happened to the FSM Sweepstakes?

We've been running a monthly sweepstakes for roughly the last two years.  Here's a link to this month's FSM Sweeps.

Thank you very much for the reply. I enter each of the monthly sweeps on the first of every month. However my question was more along the lines of why FSM does not conduct one of the previous style. The type with the huge bonanza of goodies for the first place winner and so on. In the previous Sweepstakes even 4th place garnered a 5 year subscription to FSM. That is what I meant, I just wondered why FSM doesn't run say a "once a year" Grand Sweepstakes of sorts.

Ah, now I see what you’re asking.  This is purely a guess, but I’d venture to say that going with the monthly rather than annual sweeps was started because it gives us the opportunity to promote the give-away, and consequently the magazine, all year long rather than in just one or two issues, and this sweepstake method also allows us to offer more chances for folks to win.

Hmmmm. I would say the grand sweepstakes was a much better deal than the monthly.
Maybe the grand sweepstakes needed more than a few months promotion. . .at the very least maybe the monthly could get more and bigger prizes??

While there is nothing wrong with the current Monthly giveaway. Why not add to it a Annual Sweepstakes with the type of prizes as in previous sweepstakes FSM has run. The grand prize could be a workbench loaded with all the goodies, and so on.

It could be advertised the entire year and give multiple chances to enter with each issue. Entries for the yearly could be mailed in using a coupon from each issue of the magazine. The draw could be done during the summer months when there isn't an issue in publication. I think a return to an annual in addition to the current monthly would really promote readership loyalty to maximize their chances of entry.

Just an idea.

It speaks volumes about the fact that I was out of the office yesterday, but otherwise I'm not sure what it says.

We're always looking at ways to improve our sweeps, etc and there's no reason why we wouldn't consider going back to an annual giveaway at some point, but we are committed to the monthly sweeps at least through the end of 2006.

I'm posting this knowing I may be incurring the wrath of Aztec fans, but what's the chances of changing the prize once in a while? It's been an Aztec AB for a very long time! Or is Testor's financing the project? Maybe a complete set of Model Master Acryl paints, or some Italeri kits?

I have to admit that while I enter each month right now it is primarily to win the years subscription, as I would very likely donate the airbrush to either a new modeler, or send it off to the troops or something.

Hmmm, on second thought I'm not that mean, nor do I want to P/O people who know how to travel to far away places and break things. Maybe my LHS would take it in on trade for some kits?

Noble gesture. If I win I would donate it (the subscription or the airbrush) to the local Veterans Hospital for their use. I already have two airbrushes (more than enough my wife tells me).

I understand that FSM has current commitments to keep regarding the current monthly sweeps. This post was more of a suggestion for consideration of adding the previous style of sweeps to the current monthly sweeps. Entirely up to FSM of course.

I may have paraphrased that. Oh. Well. The sentiment remains...

You guys should feel lucky. You have TWO airbrushes?? Man I'm struggling just trying to convince my wife I need one and still feed the kids. Everytime I go to hobby shop I just sigh looking at those things. $100+ just isn't in my budget right now. I enter every month and would love to win one.

Thank you for the input. My wife actually got me a compressor a couple of years ago for Christmas but then I went out and bought a $15 airbrush on ebay. I thought I was getting a good deal. Wrong!
This thing won't even pick up the paint from the bottle no matter how thin it is. I was so bummed.

I'm going to hit her up next time she goes and buys a new bowling ball, but I can already hear her reply. "What's wrong with the one you bought?" *sigh*

LOL Can't you answer "the same thing that's wrong with your old bowling ball?"

Don, mine has four bowling balls and wants a fifth. What?????? I won't even go into the shoe thing.

I've figured it out. I'm going to show her the ad for the $3800 skeet shotgun I've been wanting to get, then when she starts to panic I'll hit her with the "Naw..I just need $150 for a new airbrush" Hopefully that'll work. *LOL*
