Kit identification in articles
Posted by Triarius on Friday, April 14, 2006 1:32 PM
I'm always delighted to read articles on builds of older kits, such as Gil Hodges' "Star-Quality Korean War F-80C" in May, 2006; and Tomasz Menert's "Tropical Challenge" and Darwin Evelsizer's "Remodeling Monogram's Thud," both in April, 2006. I have many of these in my stash…I think…maybe…hmmm?

It would make it a lot easier to figure this out if the manufacturer's kit number (or numbers, in some cases) were given. It would be a great help to us dragonish hoarders, and perhaps to other Fine Scaley Modelers, as well.

There is often an insane number of rereleases and the same kit can be released by multiple companies.  3 differant companies released the same lightship kit, some several times.  I list every kit number on the 1/144 census and the number for some are insane.  There are 19 releases of the Space Shuttle from Revell, Revell AG, and Revell-Monogram with differant combinations of accompaning items(book, boosters, satellite, launch tower...).  Omiting them is space saving.

Why would every single re-issue must be listed?  I'm sure the other kits have different kit numbers (right?) so just the actual one used by the author of the article.  It should be up to us to find out any other releases from other companies.  I also don't think it would be too much to add a little kit used line in the small reference box at the end of the article.
