possible new forum?
Posted by paulnchamp on Sunday, August 10, 2003 1:01 PM
You know guys (and girls),
The more I read these threads, the more I think we might need to start a "Future" forum under the "Techniques" heading.

Either that, or maybe FSM could devote a special issue just the
topic Big Smile [:D]

I think the biggest question has been "What is Future called in (insert country here)?" We need a list of what it is called overseas.

Why not just add to the Future FAQ sticky post that already exists in the Techniques Forum ?

Maybe we could make this a "must read" item before new members register on the site. Wink [;)]

Now that's what I'm looking for. I don't browse the "Techniques" forum as often as I should, obviously.

On a serious note, how about a forum entitled MODEL BY ERA. Since alot of us model war related topics you could subdivide by time periods: Modern military, Vietnam, Korean War, WW II, WW I, Civil War, or even by centuries. This way an individual with an interest in a particular time in history could target his favorite era of modeling without thinking. Am I mad....probably, but its late and I need to get some sleep. Interesting idea, Tigerman. But what happens when you have a subject like the B-29, which served in both WWII and Korea,
or the battleship New Jersey, which served in WWII, Korea, Viet nam, etc. ? Sad [:(]

Thanks for the support Paulncahamp. You made a good point about the flaws in my idea. However, If you were referring to a B-29 during the Korean War, it should fall into the formentioned Korean War time period and not WW II. There are flaws, but if people are interested, then help to refine this plan. Fore people that like to model ancient history, perhaps that could be a sub catagory.

I've always liked how Armorama uses keywords in their forums. I think it's awesome. But although I know I can program the same thing, I don't feel it would be the right thing to do. At least without asking for permission.
