I want to thank the forum and the kind people who helped me today with some missing Instructions to a Kit a friend of mine wanted to build. (See Bf 110 G-4 post in the Aircraft section).
I believe such requests are not that uncommon which has lead me to a couple of conclusions: Where is the 'right' place to post these cries for help on the Finescale Forums? (Other Forums have a specific area for User to request Items called "Items Wanted".)
My second idea is: why don't we create a Database of Kit Instructions somewhere out there on the Internet?
I don't know how the Manufacturers would feel but we could clearly mark each copy up as "Sample". I didn't realise how difficult it was to find this information on the Internet until I looked. Revell USA only have Kit Instructions dowloadable only for their current catalogue of Car Kits. Revell Germany having nothing dowloadable and don't reply to any E:Mailed requests for help. Eduard have a great site where you can download any instructions (it saved my life when I once lost the instructions to their Tempest kit!!) but I suspect that as soon as a model disappears from the Catalogue the PDF Instructions disappears from their web site....
I have a back catalogue of Kit Instructions going back over twenty years... It would be a big job to scan them into a PDF an load them up online but I would be happy to contribute.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the topics of missing Kit Instructions and a Database thereof?
Regards,
Mark
