posting of pictures to the website by members

Why does it take an act of congress to post pictures to the website. Yes, admittedly, I am a new member, but I'd like the opportunity to showcase my projects, too. It says in the FAQ that this action must be approved by the moderator, well.. when the forum has no moderator are you out of luck??? I enjoy this site, and FSM, but if I cannot fully participate,I feel like I am being cheated.

You can post pics, but have to use a hosting sitew like Photobucket or Tinypic.  THen you post the url of the pics.  It's quite simple, but you can't just post a pic like you can some other places

I use photobucket too.  It's free and easy to use.  Once registered, you simply upload your photos on their website, then copy the url link and paste it in your post here.

Get registered and your ready to post asmany photos as you want.

No matter where you go ....... there you are.

Claudez,

Here is the information our Web Developer David Voss has posted about posting pictures in the Community Help section of the Forum:

Important Notice Regarding Pictures
Please only post pictures which are relevant to the hobby and appropriate for any audience. There could be children reading these forums so we would like to keep the discussions clean. So please don't post pictures which could be deemed offensive, violent or pornographic in nature. Pictures, or posts for that matter, which are deemed inappropriate will be removed without notice.

Hosting
Before posting pictures, you first need to have them hosted somewhere. There are a number of services that provide hosting (Free photo hosting). You may want to check with your ISP (Internet Service Providers - example: AOL, MSN, Earthlink, etc.). Most ISPs provide their customers with 5-10MB of space for the purpose of hosting personal web pages and pictures.

Once you have found a host for your pictures and uploaded the pictures, you will need the URL (the location or web address) for your picture.

The URL should look something like this:
http://www.finescale.com/fsm/objects/images/fsm061201.jpg

Posting Pictures: Using Forum Tags
To post a picture using forum tags, use the following format:

Posting Pictures: Using Image Button
To post a picture using the picture button, click on the picture button . A window will popup with a field labeled "Image URL". Copy and paste the URL for the picture into the field labeled "Image URL". After you have entered the Image URL, you should see the picture in the "Preview" box. If the picture doesn't show up, try clicking on the preview box. If the picture is correct, then click on the button labeled "Insert".

Note: If the popup window doesn't show up, it might be due to popup blockers.

Posting Pictures: Using HTML
To post a picture using HTML, you will need to switch to HTML mode by clicking on the HTML button . Using HTML mode, add the picture using the HTML image tag.

Example:

Note: The attributes allowed for the image tag is limited.

Photobucket works great.  After you upload your pics they will provide you with 3 links.  Use the 3rd link, simply copy and paste that link and voila!  Your pics will appear after you post your message.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Forgive the erratic tone of my earlier post. Looking forward to contributing to the discussions.
