Enhancement request: Navigate user back to thread after posting
Posted by the Baron on Thursday, December 10, 2009 11:23 AM

I hope the FSM web staff are reviewing responses, since the new version was deployed.  I'd like to ask that functionality be added that returns the poster to the thread, after he posts a response.  The old forum application worked that way, it's convenient, and in my line of work-testing software-we call it a regression, when functionality is lost.

Of course, this functionality may be available in this new version, but if it is, I haven't found where to configure it (I've only looked through my profile so far).

Regards,

Brad

And for the love of all things holy, if we MUST be brought to the FIRST page of every thread we enter, can you at LEAST but the page number navigator thingy (you know what I mean - the thing that lets you pick the page you want to go to) at the TOP...  c'mon, that's a no brainer...

How about just dropping the "you've posted" screen altogether? The majority of us know enough about forums to realize when we've responded to a post. And take us to OUR post, not the first one in the thread!

So long folks!

I just found that the Quick Reply function works as we're describing, it adds your post, but leaves you in the thread, at the end, looking at your post as the latest.

Don't know if there is a difference in functionality between the Reply function and Quick Reply, ie, if there is functionality available through one but not the other.

The only loss in functionality is you have to use the "insert link" command, rather than "hot" linking, and we lose the ability to quote posts without resorting to hand coding. Otherwise all the text editing capabilities are in place.

So long folks!
